I just found a kitten and on the front paw the fur is coming off. Like as if it was a sunburn on a human. It is also starting to do the same on the back paw, too. The Craw itself does not appear to be hurting her. What should I do about treating it, I can not afford to pay a vet bill and my kid has grown attach to her?

umm... unless you want to pay a human doctor I'd take that cat to the vet. Sounds like it has ringworm.

If it's mange (that's skin mites) the vet has a treatment for that. If it's ringworm, you can cure it yourself with a generic cream called miconazole from Walgreens. The brand name would be Monistat 3. Yes, the cream for yeast infection clears up ringworm on people and cats. For the cat it takes 2 applications a day for 2-3 weeks. For people it takes a month and a half...don't know why.

These are safe for treating the cat with, work as well as that $20 a tube cream from the vet, and they do work. I went through ringworm with one of ours last August.

Does the hair come off when you brush it? Is there hair underneath or is it bare? If you can brush the fur off and there is hair underneath, she's OK. She's just shedding. If the skin looks raw or she smells really bad back there, she will need to go to the vet, but probably not tonight. Some dogs do start losing amounts of hair in patches and it's normal. Some have more general shedding. Don't stress out.
