I think each side just reaffirms the people that already agree with their point of view

I'm going with neither. Christians and Atheists both ususally tend to express their point of view better in person. Y/A > R&S is basically a place where Christians and Atheists can be rude to each other and tear down the other as if they deserve no respect at all.

do no longer place self assurance in what others say. in case you're curious, study the Bible your self. opposite to what some Christians have informed you, there is not any inconsistencies interior the Bible. regrettably, some human beings decide to communicate on the Bible whilst they have not somewhat studied it themselves. This makes all Christians look undesirable. especially situations human beings take one component to the Bible out of context to make if in large condition their element which makes it disagree with yet another section. those human beings somewhat do no longer understand the Bible or have taken time to somewhat learn it. And remember, basically as a results of fact some thing is a sin now, does no longer mean that it replaced into constantly a sin. whilst Cain married his sister, it would desire to no longer have been a sin on the time. basically later, whilst the human race grew to grow to be greater populated, (the gene pool replaced into greater organic in Adams time so the subjects of interbreeding replaced into no longer a controversy) did marrying your sibling grow to be a sin. having pronounced that, perhaps God created greater human beings after he created Adam and Eve. those are basically a pair of opportunities that would have got here approximately, yet they are no longer inconsistent with the different component to the Bible. basically make an effort to earnings it. i'm no longer attempting to transform you. you look like an clever man or woman; use that intelligence to earnings and study the Bible and different components.

In their zeal to convert you to their way of thinking, they must destroy your base of faith, first!
I think that christians do more damage than good! In their enthusiasm, they run right over the top of you! I fail to see how the constant attack on your religion, is going to make you curious about something else! I'll give an example;
the LDS Church is one particular religion that I have seen slandered, lied about, cut down, maligned, and attacked!
Do they believe some strange things? Yes, they do! But it is what THEY believe, and it does not harm anyone else! and they leave a web site for people to find out more if they choose to do so! But when asked questions about their church! and before they even gave a chance to answer, anti mormon bashers get their first, with their vemon! Why do they do that! Do they think that they have the Right to spew their hatred! People take their most Sacred and Holy things, and make fun of them!
Ceremonies they hold in their Temples are Holy to them! Its like attacking Jews in their Synagogue! Or make fun of the vestments that priests wear! What kind of sick minds find humor in that?
When people can attack one religion like that, and not be called on it by others? Well, as an atheist, I find that a double standard! And, christians are so fond of saying that they are sooo perfect! How is this behavior considered Christ like in any fashion! If christians are going to preach, they should put their money where their mouth is, so to speak!
Nelson Mandela::" Religion is like a knife: when used to cut bread, it is good! When used to cut off your neighbors arm, it is BAD!" I like that saying! It is so very right ,when talking about christians! When they attack a belief system, they are cutting off someone's arm, and legs, and heart, and mind!
they did that to me, as I was an Lds member! they attack like a pyrhanna, and strip you of everything, and leave nothing! Amd when you are left, broken and bleeding, and I asked why they had done this, a man actually cursed me for being so stupid, as to believe what I believed, and tokd me he had no pity, at all! Wow! such compassion, and love, from a christian! I was overwhelmed with this man's kindness,
Now I am an atheist, and I have found peace, and a niche!
Atheists follow logic and ethics! And I have not seen them attack any particular religion like that! I am responsible for my actions! I do not harm others. and I obey the law! I don't attack, unless I am attacked first!
Follow the Golden Rule, and you will not run into trouble!
Since that is out in mainline society, I don't have a problem using it!

I seriously doubt it. I think most people come here with preconceived notions. The theists won't listen to a rational argument from non-theists because of their "faith" (which supersedes logic/evidence) and the non-theists aren't influenced by unsubstantiated dogma from the theists in the absence of evidence.
(Okay, so I DID convert and become a Pastafarian. Arrrrr.)

The only reason I am on here is in hopes of touching the heart of just one person who is looking for the truth and is tired of hearing the lies of the devil. If only one person is converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ I will feel all my hours spent answering questions as truthfully as I can are well spent.

I know someone here who was changed her opinion to atheism as a direct result of being on YA, but it would be rude of me to reveal her name. As far as I know no-one has become a believer, despite the heroic efforts of Lady Saphira.

The only answer possible is Christians.
You cannot convert a true Christian to any other belief. The true Christian has the Spirit of the Living God inside him. They are part of one another and cannot be separated.
If the person is 'converted', he/she was never a true Christian to begin with.
