There's no evidence for the existence of any gods.

Now ask yourself why so many believers are so desperate to ignore that fact.

I do not choose atheism, I am forced into it based on reason and logic.

The problem with the god hypothesis is that it cannot explain the origin of complexity. Presupposing a prior greater complexity only makes a bigger problem or leads to infinite regression.

Christians think by stating their god is timeless that this addresses the issue of complexity. It does not. The issue is not time, but one of complexity. The more complex a system is the more unlikely the possibility of that state just existing without exterior context. If a system has one bit the odds are one half. If a system has two bits of complexity the odds are one fourth etc .

Christians claim a god with infinite complexity and no external context. The odds for this are essentially zero.

By external context, one means the system is part of a greater system which provides context for it's state. Usually in the form of a selection effect, but it could also be an evolutionary mechanism or designer. But Christians claim their God, was neither designed, evolved nor was part of a greater whole.

The only possible answer to this conundrum of how reality exists, it seems to me is that reality as a whole is not complex but simple. Since the part of reality we see seems complex, it must have external context. The likely reason then for the observable complexity is a huge selection effect: ( Our own existence ). Only in locally complex regions within the simple whole can beings such as ourselves evolve.

A very well query. Here are a couple of of my individual causes: A notion in God is continuously paired with a notion in a few form of lifestyles after demise, and in my brain this devalues the lifestyles we're dwelling. To me, the notion that this lifestyles is all we have now and that once we die we're long past endlessly makes lifestyles look all of the extra distinct. I additionally can't realize the suggestion of an all strong and all loving God. I am good mindful of plenty of arguments which justify the affliction on the planet, however none of them have controlled to persuade me that fairly such a lot affliction, on this sort of significant scale and so futile, might be allowed via a God who used to be all loving. If there's a God, then I do not feel It can potentially be all loving. Or if It is, It can't be all strong. If a God exists and enables the sector to head at the method it does, then It isn't a God I have any curiosity in worshipping. I could be extra willing to suppose within the historic Greek or Roman Gods, the Gods who had been egocentric and immoral and really human, however I don't. I benefit from the thriller of lifestyles. I don't wish to reply all of the Big Questions with God, or with Science, or with whatever in any respect. I experience no longer figuring out why we're right here, wherein the sector got here from and many others. I love to feel of lifestyles, the universe and the whole thing as one significant, ludicrous, inconceivable twist of fate, and that makes me joyful. I item quite to the suggestion of dwelling a well lifestyles in order that you could please God and make it into Heaven. I so much decide upon the suggestion of goodness for the sake of goodness, figuring out that there can be no present ever however that that doesn't subject considering the fact that it's the act of goodness in itself that issues. I admire the truth that my interpretations of the idea of God and my ideals don't seem to be shared via all, however I desire I have helped you to have an understanding of one man or woman's causes for atheism.

I didn't "choose" atheism. I realized that I never believed in god, even though I tried to throughout my entire childhood. That's what made me an atheist by definition. I finally came to a point where I didn't care what people thought and came out of the proverbial atheist closet. So of your choices, I'd say that it's difficult to believe anything without good reason.

I like to think I'm smart, I have an IQ of 162, and I'm a member of Mensa. I've found that the smarter people are the more likely they are not to believe in religion. I myself have several key reasons why I'm not a believer; Why would a "benevolent" god create/allow all of the suffering in the world, why would a god who says "you shall have no other gods before me" create/allow so many religions, and lastly why would a god who says "you shall not murder" allow such things as the Crusades, where thousands were killed in his name? I could go on, but I don't have all day.

First, I didn't choose atheism like it's a religion.

I just don't believe...and since people have an obsession with classification, then I fall into the Atheism category.

Simply put, I do not believe in god. The idea of god, heaven and hell, world created in 7 days...

It's simply illogical.

Period.

I am not that smart.
I do not believe I am god.
My parents are not atheists
Atheism is not necessarily hot or cold
Religion has nothing to do with science.

Aside from the above items, everything else is on the money.

But you missed the one big one:
There is no evidence to support the existence of any god.

Firstly, no atheists think they are a god(s).
and "Having no time for prayer" makes no sense to us.

The fact is that we think prayer is a waste of time since it has no effect on what will happen in the world. The only thing that prayer does is self reflection, which we do while going about our daily lives.

I choose to be atheistic because my understanding of history suggests that the people who lived in Isreal 2000 years ago believed in myths and did not understand fact from fiction

I do not believe in God because I see no evidence of the supernatural in this world. Oh, and atheism is hot. At least I am.
