my employer has not wrote any details about tax on the check. If my salary was $1000, would I pay a tax of $135 for MONTH? I mean $135 isn't that too much......

WELL CONSIDERING THAT IT IS ONLY 135.00 FROM 1000.00 THEN NO CAUSE YOU HAVE STATE, FEDERAL, SSI AND DIS TAXES OUT IN TAXES EVERY CHECK THAT IS A WHOLE LOT LESS THAN I PAY OUT IN TAXES EVERY MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!

$135 on $1000 gross isn't bad. Your employer is required to give you some sort of document though, normally a check stub, showing what was deducted and what it was for. Ask your employer if you haven't gotten this.

that can seem like a large deduction, but it's difficult to say if it's not correct.

Your check is subject to 6.20% (that's $62.00) for social security tax and 1.45% for medicare ($14.50) the rest is subject to federal withholding tax - how much depends on how you completed your W4 form. If you don't live in WA, TN, TX, NV or FL, it is also subject to State withholding, again based on your withholding certificate.

The fact that your employer is not telling you how much was withheld for taxes is not a legal practice. Tell him you are supposed to receive an itemized statement of withholdings and need to know so you can make sure your taxes are on track for April. If he won't comply you can file a claim with the IRS or DOL along with the revenue dept for your state.

Really vague question.

Do you get a check stub for each pay period (assuming your paycheck is directly deposited in your bank account)?

Does the co. you work for have a payroll website that you can log on to to see your pay info? Can you ask someone in the payroll dept for help?

Sorry I answered your one question with 3 more questions...
