People like Noor ala Noor are in denial. I Wonder if he has read this about their "Man of peace"
The facts show that after Muhammad gained power in Medina he organized marauding bands to attack the caravans of rival cities and that the first three were wholly unsuccessful. After he became a power in Medina, to which city he had fled as a religious refugee from Mecca, he authorized the execution of his critics; most notorious example being his execution of the Jewish tribe of Koraiza, some 700 men being beheaded in the market place from morning until night. True, these Jews had disaffected, but the religious motive is seen in that they were offered full pardon if they would give up their Judaism for Islam. Not one of them accepted this offer, although their failing to do so meant not only death for themselves but the selling of their wives and little ones into slavery.

Wrong again.
When Mohammad marched on Mecca, his followers carried no arms. There was no surprised attack; the people of Mecca saw him coming miles away.
The people of Mecca hated Mohammad because he had destroyed their pagan gods and replaced them with the one true God.

I didn't feel like answering this question yet I will answer to " CONUNDRUM "
Your opinion is biased & is based on myths which were spread by the Church.
I invite you to study little History ............
" He himself [the prophet] gave letters of security and protection to the Jews and Christians in Arabia and never used any violence to them upon the account of religion."--[ An Account of The Rise And Progress of Mahometanism with the life of Mahomet- by HENRY STUBBE, M.A. of Christ Church- Oxford, From a manuscript copied by Charles Hornby of Pipe office in 1705, London,Luzac & Co. 1911, pg- 142-143]
"...to his Christian subjects, Mohammad readily granted security of thier persons, the freedom of thier trade, the property of thier goods and the toleration of thier worship. This profitable principle of toleration was observed with more or less strictness, not only by all the immediate successors of the Prophet, but over the whole period of Arabic ascendency."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]
The founder of Islam has been characterised as,
" The man who, of all men, exercised the greatest influence upon the human race."--[History of the Intellectual Developement of Europe, by DRAPER, VOL.I, pg-239]
"The muslims could perform that unparalleled feat of the theological rascocination because, "...the monotheism of Mohammad was the most absolute and comparatively the freest from mythical adulterations."--[The History of Materealism by F.A.Lange, vol-I, pg-184]
MY CHOICE OF MUHAMMAD TO LEAD THE LISTOF THE WORLD'S MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS MAY SURPRISE SOME READERS AND MAY BE
QUESTIONED BY OTHERS, BUT HE WAS THE ONLY
MAN IN HISTORY WHO WAS SUPREMELY
SUCCESSFUL ON BOTH THE RELIGIOUS AND
SECULAR LEVEL." Michael H. Hart "The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History", New York: Hart Publishing Company, Inc., 1978,
As for SWORD.............
" It is altogether a misconception that the Arabian progress was due to the 'sword' alone.THE SWORD MAY CHANGE AN ACKNOWLEDGED NATIONAL CREED, BUT IT CAN NOT EFFECT THE CONSCIENCES OF MEN."-- [The Historic Role of Islam, by M.N.Roy,pg-49,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]
".........I became more than ever convinced that it was NOT THE SWORD that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. IT WAS THE RIGID SIMPLICITY, the utter self-affacement of the Prophet, the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his interpidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. THESE AND NOT THE SWORD carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. -- [Mahatma Gandhi in his article published in 'YOUNG INDIA' in 1924]

No, you have to remember, alot of Muslims living in Mecca werent capable of fleeing Mecca and emigrating to Madina. The people of Mecca loved the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him because after he entered wtih the 10,000 soldiers, which is mentioned in the Bible by the way, he had mercy on them all and decided not to take revenge on those who have slaughtered, tortured, and humilated. So, it was his mercy that allowed them to see that it is true, this guy wasnt just a guy, but a Prophet of God.

i dont think you asked this question to know the answer but just to mock Muslims...
Edit: Before prophet Muhammad (PBUH) entered mecca, the people of mecca knew.. PLUS one of the leaders of mecca (abu sufian, who later became a muslim) informed prior to the entrance of Muslims...
Even Hinda was forgiven by the Muslims (murderer of the prophet's best friend who was his uncle too)

Hateful people can never think of any thing but hateful words.
Prophet Mohammad went for Haj with 10,000 of his followers and they did perform Haj. No war happened there.
Yes they were armed in case Meccans try to stop them from performing Haj and start war. Meccans already had lost three wars and their influence in entire Arabia because lots of tribes around Mecca had accepted Islam and came with Mohammad SAW on this Haj. Meccans didn't dare to fight but hid in their houses. Thousands of them were already Muslims and more converted on his arrival. Prophet declared emnesty to all people of Mecca even though they had killed and tortured lots of Muslims in past 20 years and did impose three wars on Muslims.
You people know very well that Islam doesn't use force to convert. We in America do not have any sword. Have you seen any Muslim with sword here. But Americans are converting as Muslims. Why! because it is the only true religion that has solutions for all human problems and teaches how to live a clean life. Americans who have brains and can think, they are understanding and realizing that Islam is the best way of life and are converting. Braindeads only say hateful words without ever thinking what they say and who the real God is.
Christianity is loosing ground and church goers because their entire religion is based on assumptions and not facts.
Jesus neither was son of God nor He ever said, I am son of God or that I am God. If he did give me page # of King James Version Bible to verify. I have its copy. Show us on what basis your faith lies upon. We can show number of quotes of God Himself in Quran saying that Mohammad is the true Prophet of God. You simply assume that Jesus is God because of his miracles which were all done by the command of God to prove people that he is Messenger of God so they believe Jesus and listen what he was saying.
On the command of God Moses struck his stick on the rock and 12 spring started giving water for twelves tribes of Jews in desert of Cinai. Would you call him God. He did create those springs. It was the God who did it. Jews know and they never say Moses was God.

Yes part of the people of Mecca loved Muhammad pbuh before he showed up in a surpried attack with an army of 10.000 but the majority of infidels (jahiliyyah) in Mecca hated Muhammad pbuh and his loyal followers..They tried to kill Muhammad pbuh although he gave explanation about Islam (da'wah) without force. So Muhammad pbuh with his loyal followers (called muhajirin) after about 10 years of da'wah moved to Medinaa where there were many muslims called Anshar received or welcome Muhammad pbuh and his followers..They helped and loved Muhammad pbuh and his group.Muhammad pbuh became the fair and wise head of state and the chief of islamic religion there.for about 13 years until he died. After muslims defeated the infidels of Mecca without bloodshed, most infidels become muslims in peaceful condition.

People who didn't love Mohammed still didn't love him after he showed up.
The prophet gave them permission to live in Mecca in Peace. He didn't for anyone to change his/her religion.
So, most of people greeted Mohammed were oppressed Muslims in Mecca who weren't able to flee.
The rest who didn't welcome Mohammed left the city or stayed there.
