This is really another 'intelligent' thing with you, isn't it? People are on here to give their opinions; just like you. Of course, most of us won't be absolutely correct because we obtain knowledge from various sources and those sources a lot of times are just another opinion or interpretation. And then add our own interpretation on top of that and then you don't agree, and on and on. We are all on here to gain more knowledge, and share opinions; not to be judged on intelligence some seem so hung up on. You don't need to say, "Hey so, and so, your answer is totally wrong you idiot! The fact is this!" Just answer the way you feel is correct. We'll all see it. If you start telling people they aren't intelligent enough to answer, and give them an inferiority complex, they won't answer anymore for fear of ridicule; is that your aim? A lot of us email each other and are more discreet about what we think may be errors, politely pointing them out. Really, really gets to me when you call others "less intelligent". Shame on you. And I've yet to see an atheist or "skeptic" tell another one that they are wrong!

I do sometimes. But I think that some people are just doing their best with what they have and you should let your answer speak for itself. If they way things like, "That's my faith" and "Just accept Christ", how can you dog that as a Christian? It's their personal experience. But if it's completely retarded, or mean-spirited, I may say something just to make sure atheist know that we're all not like that. We're dealing with enough stereotypes as it is. Thanks a lot Pat Robertson, you nut!
Anyway, "edify" means "to build up", not to correct. I thought you were asking why we weren't supporting each other.
And btw, I hardly ever see atheists on here even pull out a thumbs down for their fellows. Most atheist responses consist of mean-spirited, arrogant exclamations like:
a) religion is a myth like Santa
b) we're smarter and religious people know nothing about science
c) they are brainwashed
no offense to intelligent atheists who will put more. But most atheist responses that I see are pretty snide and insulting. And those one-line snips get thumbs-up.
I'm sorry, but do you know everything? And there are so many smart Christians in the world, of COURSE they read and question their beliefs. We're not robots. But because Christianity can apply to everyone, and has a universal requirement for "membership", you get all types. As with atheism. There are dumb Christians with no people skills, just like there are dumb atheists with no people skills. Believe it or not, religion meets people where they are. For the limited mind, there is just the plain gospel, hallelujah Jesus, nothing wrong with that. For the person who needs intellectual stimulation to stay interested, there are plenty of mysteries to try to solve and revelations to be had. There is so much thought, debate, and discovery in Christianity, but if you don't delve into it, you'll never know, will you?

The real problem is Christians have so many denominations and factions (and translations) of the Bible that many have different answers. How is the person to discern which is the right answer unless they ask another they trust and well versed in Scripture?
Even Christians debate among themselves which is right.
I have seen so many different answer for simple questions it baffles me how some come to these conclusions. I don't believe God would have orchestrated the Bible for some to interpret differently. That's why unity is so difficult to bring.
The Holy Spirit is the Teacher. The final authority should rest with Him.

I have to agree with you, and on occasion I'll point them out. Unfortunately, - on both sides of these issues - many resort to namecalling and bumper stickers. I don't think a few marginal thinkers really hurt the overall cause on either side.
The minute I see someone type "Xians" or "Catholic Pedophile" I know they're already locked in their viewpoint and probably not worth the effort. Likewise, you'll probably encounter Christians that approach things with intellect. (It is possible to be Christian and intellectual)

Usually the more mature Christian will give a suitable answer to a question. In that way the younger Christians will be able to read, meditate, and correct themselves.
Of note, the skeptic also reads the suitable answer, but chooses to ask the same question again and again.

Many Christians are far more intelligent than I am in regard to general intelligence, but Christians compartmentalize religion in their minds. Within that compartment, there is a thin line between the Christian burger flipper and the Christian rocket scientist.

Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
Matthew 13:14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: " 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
I think with a little humility you just might be a Christian.

because of the fact that is one factor to declare a faith and yet another to stay it. positioned it this sort all of us stay some sort of religion or way of existence in this earth and in case you do no longer prepare what you carry forth then your a hypocrite and that is going for each faith or faith. by ability of human nature maximum folk are judgmental, grasping, hateful and the checklist is going on. that is not suitable what faith you think in, some human beings will dislike or disagree on particular subjects regardless. it could be a applicable international if there became in basic terms one faith, one God and one love, yet regrettably there is too lots of all the above for this reason confusion and discord will consistently be. definite Christians are think to persist with Christ and do their superb to emulate, yet a number of them do no longer in basic terms as others of distinctive faiths and religions. Christianity isn't incorrect that is people who make it look undesirable!

I have no idea what your saying. I was understanding you at first now i'm lost. All i can say is, I speak my mind when its something i agree or identify with. If i can't relate i have no comment. I speak the truth as how i know it. Christianity is such a wide term now. We're all so disunified and beliefs vary.
