Start out with 10 Min's. then the next day 15 and so on until you are up to 30 Min's. max. The lotions they have for the tanning beds only intensifies the tan so stay away from the tanning bed lotions until your skin can take 30 Min's without the burning feeling then use the lotions if you like. I have my own tanning bed in my home.

The truth, however, is that regular use of a tanning bed can be a great defense against sunburn. After all, tanning is the body's natural defense against burning - the gradual development of a tan increases the body's levels of melanin, a chemical that absorbs dangerous UV rays before they do serious skin damage. Indoor Stop sunburn - tan indoorstanning using a quality tanning bed allows a controlled exposure to tanning rays, building melanin gradually so that once you're exposed to outdoor sun, whether during a sporting event, at the beach, or on the ski slopes, sunburn is much less likely.

unlike normal tanning, which occurs over a few hours, tanning beds are quick. so you need to start out with short 5-8 minute sessions until your body gets used to it and then slowly add more time in 1-2 minute increments. Also make sure that you buy the lotion at the store, don't try to bring in you're Banana Boat Tanning Lotion (I learned that the hard way)

Turn over constantly and instead of say 15-20 minute sessions go for 10-12 and there are several different types of tanning beds (for instance if one has just had new bulbs put in it it will be much stronger)

You could be staying in too long..if not don't use any kind of accelorators or bronzers. If you just started tanning, I'd start with maybe 8 min, then 10, 15, until 20. Hope this helps..not sure how long you've been tanning or skin tone--so may vary!! :)

I agree with Nae......AVOID tanning at all cost and do spray tan. If you can get it airbrushed then that is better than a booth but anything other than an actual tanning bed is way better. You are aging yourself at a faster rate by tanning period.

Go for shorter periods of time. And don't tan more than once a day. Give yourself atleast 24 hours between tans, too.

I wouldn't reccommend tanning in a bed. It's so bad for your skin. But without lecturing you, I would suggest going in for a short amount of time. Also, if you wear the lotion you shouldn't burn as much.

Don't go to a tanning bed. Get a professional sprayed on tan instead.
