I think this because once they die they'll feel really bad for not believing it. If you think otherwise, feel free to tell me why.

At least the people who go against the bible, and give a reason why - even if it is saying it is not real, or a work of fiction - are being honest.

Much more honest than a Christian who claims to believe everything in the bible, then acts against it at nearly every chance they get - adultry, theft, lying, cheating, cruelty, verbal and physical abuse, etc, etc. - all things that they are supposed to know better than to do because of their belief and supposed education in the bible.

And please don't give me the excuse that Chrstians aren't perfect - obviously no one is.

But the rest of us can manage to get through the day without breaking any commandments, even if we don't believe in them. And if we do break one, we accept the personal responsibility for our actions (most do, at least). No claims of satan's interference, or temptation - which is also, IMO, another form of lying.

I'm not going to feel bad for my beliefs just because they don't match yours. God's house has many mansions, many rooms, room for everyone.

I personally can stand up to my life when it is reviewed for me - how many so called claimants to Christianity can do the same? I only know of a few myself.

I think that's a Huge assumption. What do you mean, exactly, going "against" the Bible. I'm sure I could find things in the Bible that Everyone goes against. Like.... do you agree with owning slaves? The Bible does. If you don't agree with owning slaves, you are "against" the Bible. Or are you referring to the beliefs delivered by Christianity in general? In that case, we could round and round for the rest of our lives talking about which sect of Christianity has it more right than the others (If the sects within the religion argue, you can't claim Unity nor One Belief).

Why would I feel bad for being honest with myself? I wouldn't feel bad at all. If this God is All-Knowing, Merciful and Just... I'm sure he knows this about me and will act according to the "Merciful" and "Just" titles he claims for himself. If not, then I will still not feel bad... because I didn't call him Merciful and Just... and then made him to deal with people unjustly....

I've often wondered why people use these obvious emotional tactics to try to get people people to feel guilty for being honest with themselves by calling them "Ignorant" or "without morals" based on personal belief alone... without even knowing the people they are saying it about. I believe this IS "against the Bible" as even the Old Test says to deal with those not of your faith in an honest way. The New Test says the same thing. *shrug* You can't wonder why people put the belief down when you do things like this.

I don't believe "ignorant" is the proper term to describe people who go against God's Word. I believe "lost" would be a better description. One second after a person dies, they will find out that every word in the Bible was true, but it will be too late. There will be no appeal to a higher court when they stand before God at the Great White Throne of Judgment - he IS the highest court! All of us are given a chance to either believe in Jesus and the penalty He paid to keep us from being thrown into a lake of fire, and being eternally separated from His love, or we can reject it and take our chances - God is fair, He allows us to make the decision.

And you think the ones who believe that a 600 year old man built a boat large enough to carry 20 million species of animals including two Tyranasaurus Rex's, are brilliant? Fundamentalist Christians have stopped worshipping Jesus and now worship a book. They ignore His teachings about love, intolerance, helping the poor. They have cast their lot with people like Newt Gingrich who has had adulterous affairs, Rudy Guiliani who has done the same. And George Bush who lied us into a war and continues a policy which is responsible for killing thousand of American soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens. The bible is not Jesus Christ. It's a book.

I dont , most ancient religious texts were written to create a good code of conduct and thinking patterns in the society where the preacher lived. Of course some of the things mentioned were in tune with the times and practises followed then, these were meant as guidelines and not strict rules to follow.
If your heart is good and you dont harm anyone you will still go to god irrespective of what book you read/follow.

I don't think that "Ignorant" is a word you should toss around so freely...

...people might give in to the temptation to respond with condescending sarcasm. Like I 'm strongly tempted to, right now.

And how exactly have YOU fought your way through ignorance? Read extensively? Researched? Contemplated? Gone off to live in a cave for a year and meditated on the multiplicity of "truth"?

Have you ever considered that "go(ing) against" a belief is the only way to really understand it?

I do not believe the bible is the word of God, I believe it is the words of men. I don't condemn those who believe the bible is the word of God, I think it's wonderful that they have found something to believe in. I believe everyone has their own path to Deity, the bible just isn't mine.
I can't imagine believing in a book simply because I was afraid I would go to a horrible place if I didn't. I believe in good works and good deeds, done by everyone, not just Christians.
Peace.

One problem of the Bible that people simply do not like are the standards that are involved. Most of the things we see now on TV, movies, blah blah blah... promote the exact opposite of what it teaches. And of course, Evolution is a mandatory class. Also you have those "Esteemed Scholars" who promote books the "refute" God and religion all together.

When all that is in your face, you can see WHY people leave.

Shows how ignorant they are?

There would have to be some evidence showing that the Bible has truth to it before you can accuse someone of being ignorant for not believing it. Your statement would be like me telling you that you show your ignorance by not believing me when I tell you that there are giant invisible turtles dancing in your bathroom.

Just saying that someone is ignorant doesn't make them ignorant. It just shows that you are forced to resort to name-calling because you have nothing better to offer for proof of your claim.

Do you agree that people that go against the Flying Spaghetti Monster and say he's not real shows how ignorant they are? I think this because once they die they'll really bad for not believing in him (they'll be in hell with stale beer and ugly stripppers). If you think otherwise, feel free to tell me why.
