Has anyone ever asked God a yes or no question and said "Ok God, I'm going to flip a coin, and please tell me, if the answer is yes, make the coin land on heads, but if the answer is no, make it land on tails". Then you keep asking God more questions, relying on the toss of a coin to tell you what to do. I've tried it and it doesn't work. God gives signs, but you can't just expect a yes or no answer right on the dot.
(Hopefully I'm not the only one who as done this, I'm so embarassed.)

I have not done it, but I understand why you would. It is too bad that God is not that black and white.

I'm sure that probably every Christian has at one time or another, asked God to give them a sign concerning a particular matter that they are seeking his guidance concerning; including myself. But our most reliable source of guidance is the Word of God. Many times God will speak to us in other ways, or through other people. But his most practical way that He speaks to us is through his Holy Word. Yet when we are attempting to follow God as we should, many times we will know where He is leading us, or what He is saying to us, just by the peace and guidance that we have from his Holy Spirit. If you truly need an answer from God about a particular matter, and you ask Him for an answer in sincerity, He will most certainly give you an answer. But do not get hung up on Him always giving you answers in any particular way. For God speaks in many different ways.

God does give signs and they may be right under your nose and you won't even notice them. Or it isn't time for Him to reveal them to you and is waiting till the right time or the right way for you. Keep your heart, eyes, ears, and soul open to Him and you will know the signs.

Either way you have to realize at some point that you are talking to yourself. Just who is mediating this conversation anyway? Are you hearing any voices back when you do this? It sounds like you're just blowing bubbles in the wind to me. You're forcing something that's not there.

Here's a Bible story you might be interrested in.......

Gen 24:12 And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

Gen 24:13 Behold, I stand [here] by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

Gen 24:14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: [let the same be] she [that] thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

Gen 24:15 ¶ And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

Gen 24:16 And the damsel [was] very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

Gen 24:17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

Gen 24:18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

Gen 24:19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw [water] for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

Gen 24:20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw [water], and drew for all his camels.
