Wouldn't people notice your plastic nose straight away? Or those fake plastic breasts? No one would take them seriously. So why do people do it?

Maybe you ought to do a bit more research. It's called plastic surgery because in the greek language 'plastiko' means 'to mould or to shape'. This is where the word plastic surgery comes from, there is no plastic involved lol.

When cosmetic procedures are performed by a highly skilled, experienced cosmetic surgeon, the results can be very subtle and you would not suspect a person of having had anything done. The whole point of cosmetic surgery is not to look done, but to look natural. Of course there are some cowboys out there who will take your cash and butcher you, but this is why it's important to seek out a high skilled, experienced cosmetic surgeon for any procedure that you may wish to have.

There is a very practical reason for getting breast implants. They'll prevent you from drowning, however keep them clear of open flames.

No really, same reason girls dress like girls and boys dress like boys. Same reason that women wear makeup and straighten their hair. People aren't always comfortable with the way they look, so they go to more extreme measures. And when it comes down to it, that's okay!! :)

To improve on themselves. Almost everyone has something about their appearance they would change. A lot of people want what they picture as the "perfect" appearance. Personally I would never have any work done on me, but for a lot of people it gives them more self confidence, real or not.

I was thinking of getting my ears surgically pointed, like Liv Tyler or Cate Blanchett in LOTR. That would be pretty cool. It would be a great conversation starter at parties too.

well ppl would notice if they knew you... but it's hard for someone who doesn't know you to be able to tell u've had plastic surgery. I would def have plastic surgery if I had the money to do so. I agree with Janice Dickinson "if you don't have it, go get it!!!"

Most do it because they're vain and insecure and should be focusing on other things in their lives to make themselves feel worth something. And others do it because they have a deformity... in which case I'm all for it.
