When the vet spayed her they said she only had 1 ovary and the one she had was underdeveloped..they cut her open farther to make sure her other organs were functioning properly and they were. I took her back this friday to see what was going on, and they took blood work which I'm waiting to get back. Is it possible that her missing ovary partially grew, or they left her uterus or another part of her reproductive organs inside her? I'm just p****d that I have to deal with her in heat, and that she has to go through a "exploratory surgery" if the results show the vets screwed up!

She should not have been spayed in the first place. 5 months of age is just not enough for these dogs to fully develop, which causes problems like this!!! Good luck, and ihope your vet doesn't charge you for the second time!

Yikes, how frustrating for you! I would wait to get the blood tests back, but in the meantime, get a few recommendations from friends on other vets and start calling around. See if any will give you a second opinion, and will take a look at her blood test results, too, when they're available.

I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable giving the first vet another go-ahead for surgery without a second (or third!) opinion.

While it is rare, and probably quite embarassing for the vet who did the original surgery it is possible that they missed something.

Yes secondary surgery is needed to removed the 'missed parts' if this is the case.

Your vet is a quack, get your records and go somewhere else. Do not wait. This could be something totally different and not a heat cycle but I would find out with a new vet if I were you.

Like a child, get a second opinion on your dog's condition.
