Um...what?? Are You Serious??
Who cares if you wear glasses! What the heck does wearning glasses have to do with anything? If that was the case, there would be a lot more people dying today from lack of surgeons.
And OF COURSE it's hard being a surgeon, it takes a lot of hard work and determination, what do you expect?

Hmmm... I know they don't want people with vision problems to be fighter pilots, but I haven't heard of surgeons having to have perfect vision. I wear glasses too, and I think we should be just as capable surgeons as anyone else.
Unless your glasses do not correct your eyesight to a large extent I think you should have no troubles.
Becoming a surgeon is a lot of work. First you have to be a doctor (which is quite an arduous task in itself) and then specialise as a surgeon. Exactly how long it takes depends on where you want to study. I'm from Queensland, Australia and I the universities will only let you into medicine if you have done a degree previously (and done well in it), sit and exam (and do well in that too) and impress a panel in an interview. Then its a 5 year medicine degree, followed by 4-6 years specialisation. Even if you don't need to do a degree beforehand, you will probably have to study for at least the better part of a decade to be a surgeon.
It will be worth it in the end though :) lots of money and lots of respect. :)

Lots of surgeons (and doctors) wear glasses. It won't get in the way of you becoming one.
There is some difficulty in becoming a surgeon and it takes a long time too. First you have to finish college and get a degree usually a pre-med course. Then you go to medical school for around 4-5 years depending on where you study. After that you take an exam to certify that you are a physician and by then you can go into specialty training to become a surgeon (another 4-6 years). Exams get harder each step of the way but the hardship is definitely worth it. Good luck!

No, wearing glasses will not keep you from becoming a surgeon.
It is hard to become a surgeon. Operating on someone is a huge responsibility, so it will be difficult to get there; they make it that way on purpose. No one wants a surgeon who does things half a**ed or lazily. Expect to work hard and study like never before. But once you are a surgeon you will feel so proud of yourself for acheiving your goal. Good luck!

Yes, surgeons may wear glasses. In fact, even if their eyesight is perfect, they have to wear eye protection in the OR anyway, so you'll be a step ahead in htat regard.
And, yes, it's incredibly hard to be a surgeon. It is a LOT of work, and a lot of stress, but some people thrive on that.

Wearing glasses will not decrease your chance of becoming a surgeon. In order to become one you will need 4 years of pre med, 4 years of med school, 1 year of internship, pass the board exams, 4-5 years residency training in general surgery (depends on hospital), pass the oral and written exams for general surgery. If you want a subspecialty that would be another 3 years of training (ex. cardiac surgery)
