It sounds like an infection. Did you have her stitches/staples removed? If not, do you know for a fact it was disolvable sutures?

I had the exact same thing happen to my German Shepherd female when she was spayed, and I totally freaked out, too! But thankfully, it turned out to just be a reaction to the internal stitches dissolving (and, like you, it happened three to four weeks after the surgery, not 10-12 days when the vet thought the stitches would have dissolved).
Definitely get her to the vet for an antibiotic and to rule out anything worse, but she should be OK.

Check her for fever and this sounds like an emergency to me. I had a friend who lost their dog because the vet left a gauze in her and she got an infection. They tried to treat her with antibiotics then a week later when all it did was get worse, the infection had spread through her body quickly. She took her to another vet and they opened her up and found the gauze. The dog died. You just never know.. get it checked out ASAP.

Oh Yikes! It sounds like the internal stitches did not hold on this one. Keep her calm, hopefully you can get her to the vet in the AM right away!

It sounds like she has an infection. They can be serious so take her to the vet ASAP! Make sure she doesn't lick, itch, scratch, or bite at it.
