It killed them all the way. Except for the ones that were not killed.

According to most estimates, the bombing of Hiroshima killed approximately 70,000 people due to immediate effects of the blast. Estimates of total deaths by the end of 1945 range from 90,000 to 140,000, due to burns, radiation, and subsequent disease, aggravated by lack of medical resources. Some estimates state up to 200,000 may have died by 1950, due to cancer and other long-term effects. The numbers for Nagasaki are consistently lower, because the valley terrain reduced the impact of the bomb, with immediate deaths estimates ranging from 40,000 to 75,000.

In both cities, the overwhelming majority of the deaths were civilians.

The role of the bombings in Japan's surrender, as well as the effects and justification of them, has been subject to much debate.

A lot less than what would have been killed by a ground invasion of Japan.

My question is why do liberals use a 2007 analogy to a war that ended 62 years ago...

We didn't start that war, they did. When you attack the biggest guy on the block. either beat him with the first bunch or get set to be beaten. They attacked us, if we had invaded the home islands the estimates were up to 3 million Japanese dead with half a million Americans killed or wounded. If I had been Truman I would have done the same thing.

Enough to end the war in less than a week.

Shed some tears for Pearl Harbor, while you're at it.

There were two atomic bombs

the one at Hiroshima: 200,000 dead (after radiation sickness had killed some)

the one at Nagasaki: 75,000 dead
