Cancers don't come and go, so you can probably count it out.
It looks like a glandular irritation. It's quite common and is found in both sexes. It's caused by hormonal variations.
It could eventual turn into an abscess, which is very unpleasant. Procedure is removal of the defunct gland (that's why it reacts this way). It's a simple surgery that can be done at your doctor's office, just like a wart or a flu shot.
It can also be caused by a reaction to your anti-perpirant or soap. You can try changing those first.
You could also have some endocrinian problems, which is a worse case scenario. It can cause hearth problems, cancers or diabetes.
Next time it happens, go to your doctor and have it checked out.

I've had that happened to me before . Many years ago, it happened once or twice. I don't remember exactly how long it lasted(a little over a week?) but I never went to a doctor and years later I'm perfectly healthy so obviously it wasn't cancer.
Now I'm not saying that your case is the same, just the same symptoms, so you should definitely have a doctor check it out just to be on the safe side.
On a side note my little nephew had similar bumps appear on the back of his neck. He was taken to a doctor and it turned out to be just something related to a high fever he ran a day before. They also went away after a few days and he' perfectly fine.

You could have a gland that is getting clogged. Very painful. You don't say how long you have had it, so I don't know the time table that it has come and gone. You shouldn't mess around with things like that though. Better to spend the money for a doctor visit with all your info written down for him so you don't leave anything out, including if it has ever drained. Call for an appointment. You will feel better, both mentally and physically.

It could be an ingrown hair. It could also be a swollen lymph gland. Humans have lymph glands in their armpits, groin, neck, etc. Sometimes, these can become slightly swollen and sore. It could be a mole. You might want to take a really close look in the mirror to see what color it is (yes, even if you have to remove some of the hair). If it's not gone in a few days, or if it gets worse, you may want to get it checked out by a doc.

I don't think its cancer. It is probably a fever blister or a sebaceous cyst.(like a painful pimple) Try to keep the area dry and open to air as much as possible. If you continue to be concerned see a dermatologist. I think it will probably resolve with keeping it clean, dry and open to air if possible. That way bacteria can't get in. They like warm sweaty places. Good Luck!

I could very well be an ingrown hair. Is your hair (on your head that is) curly. I would venture to guess then it might just be an ingrown hair. If this is the case then apply warm compresses and the swelling should go down. If the problem persists then see your physician.

Cancer, to my knowledge doesn't come and go. It's probley something very simple, but if it's making you nuts go get it checked out by a doc, nothing we can tell you can really help.
