We've been friends for a while but he's painfully shy when it comes to romance (he's a bit of a jokester otherwise). He's told me that he never makes the first move and he NEVER tells the girl he likes her.. but he will hint...
I told him a few months back that I liked him, but we were both involved with other people - Now we're both single and he's kicked up the flirting to more sexual conversations and heavily teasing me about different things.
However, he does mention other girls that he thinks are attractive or whatever.
I don't want to ask him because I don't want to put him in that position because he's a real sweetheart and I don't want to force him to say something because he's afraid he'll hurt my feelings.
How can I tell if he likes me or if I'm just a close friend when he's this shy?
I'd make the first move if I were sure he liked me

You can't tell. He might like your or might just be a pal. You could, of course, confront him.

Hello, Actually the simplest and very much convenient solution for your problem is you have to make the same as he has done to you. Make him dependent on you, on your friendship, on your opinions on each and every matter of his life. Because love starts when a person cant live without his sincere friend and friendship is the first step towards love. This is a time taken solution but its really very much effective.
