I really really do not understand why there are so many people on here letting their animals suffer, asking complete strangers what to do about their dogs. There are people who go to school to learn about animals. They are called VETS!!!
Look it up.

Welcome to the dog section of YA. And some of us get yelled at for being rude (because we get frustrated by what you are describing). We also get yelled at, thumbs down and reported when we tell people the truth, tell them to go to the vet or if we are anything less than sweet as pie to the people who ask those questions.

As I said, welcome to the Dog section of YA. =) It's not always like that, but those people are here every day....

EDIT:
If you are a person asking for medical advice here - please be advised that about 25-50% of the advice offered here is blantly wrong or extremely dangerous to your animals.

Some people suggested giving dogs beer to calm them down, others nyquil! That's nuts. This is a bunch of strangers who have nothing better to do than talk about dogs. We could mean well but offer horrible advice. If nothing else, CALL a vet please.

You shouldnt be so judgmental!! While I agree that the majority of these questions seem silly to ask when you should be getting to a vet, sometimes even the vet cant figure a thing out and someone else might have come upon an answer simply by trial and error. I currently have a question posted about my dogs gas problem and my vet cant seem to figure out why!!
But some of the questions I see posted here do scare me, and I wonder why they have pets at all.

If I have a health problem with my dogs, I wouldn't be on here unless I'd already been to the vet, and then I'd see if anyone else's dog has the same affliction as mine, and what the owner did for him/her. I'm more of an answerer than an asker, anyways, and when I do ask questions, it's usually not about my critters.

Your comment is pretty harsh. Sometimes, people with experience on a subject can give you some ideas or better, some good advices. When I took my dog to the vet to a check-up and his rabies shot, it cost me one week salary. That's why intelligent people refer to this forum and ask questions before running to the vet when their pets sneeze or else. Most people are responsible and when their pet is really sick, they go and bring it to the vet. I am not sure why you asked this question.

because it only takes a second and sometimes people have to wait a day or two to go to the vet. Many of the questions I see people asking are not life and death, if your dog is bleeding then it's vet time, but a limp or a missing patch of hair may warrent a day or two of waiting. Parvo is never a thing that can be cured by asking, but some people are unaware that a pup with blood in the stool may even have it.
I do not like seeing -how can I cure my dog's problem without at vet? -those are the people who need to reconsider pet ownership because alot of vets offer payment plans.

I have not got a CLUE! The only one I call when I have a medical issue is my vet or the ER clinic. If it is not serious, I will post to my rescue group to get opinions from other pin owners, or I will pull up www.veterinarypartner.com. I have seen some pretty dangerous suggestions as well as some pretty cruel abuse on this site.

Because the Almighty Internets know all..........we should worship them.

Oh and internet access is more important than paying a vet bill for "my precious, I love my 'insert pet here' so much but...."

By the way, Bianca, if you are only 9, you are not old enough to participate in Y Answers, and most other websites for that matter.

As always many "not everyone is rich" type of answers. I guess same people "adopt, rescue or buy" a dog without bothering to purchase a 20 dollar book on basic dog care and training.
Dogs are responsibility and not always little Lassies.
Late Entry for Val : I'd recommend going "Home made Raw" for your dog. The crap from the bag is often "undigastable" for the dog.....the gas is a production of this problem!!!!!!

I think people don't go to the vet cause it takes some time to actually go to the vet. Selfish people think only of themselves.. They aren't willing to go out of their way for other people, animals or anything else for that matter, unless it directly benefits them. If they can find a cheap way to take care of it, they might do that..Otherwise, they are just too selfish and uncaring to do the responsible thing.. Very very sad.

People don't stop and think that a call to their vet is just as free as hopping on here, and much more informative. However, we try to re-direct them to the proper person when they need it.
