SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE

1/2 lb. ground round
1/2 lb ground sausage
1 (15 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
Dash of Louisiana hot sauce
2 med. onions
5 garlic cloves
6 or 7 lg. mushrooms
1 green pepper
2 tsp. ready to use oregano
2 tsp. ready to use basil
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. dry thyme
Fresh ground pepper to taste
1/2 c. olive oil
1 lb. spaghetti
Parmesan cheese, grated
Extra virgin olive oil

Peel and chop onions, garlic cloves, mushrooms and green pepper. Put a big ole black skillet on burner and heat olive oil on medium fire. Add onions, garlic, mushrooms, and green pepper. Fry for 5 minutes or until onions turn clear and garlic starts to smell strong. Pour all ingredients into a bowl and reserve for later.
Return skillet to heat and add ground beef. Fry until browned and break apart into small clumps. Returned fried vegetables to the skillet. Add whole tomatoes and chop them up. Add tomato sauce, oregano, basil, bay leaf, thyme and ground pepper. Mix ingredients well. Cover skillet and turn fire down to simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes. At the last minute sprinkle some tony's on there.

Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil. Add spaghetti, a little at a time. Stir and add extra virgin olive oil to avoid sticking. Cook for 10 minutes or until just cooked through (no hard white center). Drain and run cool water through spaghetti. Transfer to a bowl and add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and a half cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well.

Remove sauce from stove and pour into a bowl. Spaghetti bolognese is now ready to serve.

as for main course make vodka pasta
1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, once around the pan in a slow stream
1/2 tablespoon butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 shallot, minced
1/2 cup vodka
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 can crushed tomatoes (16 ounces)
Coarse salt and pepper
8 ounces pasta, such as penne rigate
1/4 cup heavy cream
10 leaves fresh basil, shredded or torn

Crusty bread, for passing

Heat a large skillet over moderate heat. Add oil, butter, garlic, and shallots. Gently saute shallots for 3 to 5 minutes to develop their sweetness. Add vodka to the pan, 3 turns around the pan in a steady stream will equal about 1 cup. Reduce vodka by half, this will take 2 or 3 minutes. Add chicken stock, tomatoes. Bring sauce to a bubble and reduce heat to simmer. Season with salt and pepper.

While sauce simmers, cook pasta in salted boiling water until cooked to al dente (with a bite to it). While pasta cooks, prepare your salad or other side dishes.

Stir cream into sauce. When sauce returns to a bubble, remove it from heat. Drain pasta. Toss hot pasta with sauce and basil leaves. Pass pasta with crusty bread.

as for dessert ice cream on each other. ;-)

How long have you been married?

How often do you prepare a candle light dinner for your wife?

I was married for 10 years. One month after our 10th anniversary my husband got killed.

To me it would not matter what he cooked, anything would be great.

It is so sweet! Good Luck.
Lots of Love to both of ya!

dont know a good recipe for the shrimp, but here are 2 easy pasta recipies that have NEVER failed me (everyone i make them for loves it and they are my bfs favorites)

"Pink Pasta Sauce"
Combine equal parts of alfredo and marinara sauce (jarred), add garlic powder, italian herbs, basil, and oregono to taste, rosemary is good too if you have it , let it simmer while you do the other stuff, i also like to add a splash of red wine when i make this
saute one diced green pepper and one diced onion in pan w olive oil, add diced chicken and cook till chicken is fully cooked, add the chicken, peppers and onion to the sauce, let simmer for about 10 mins, serve over pasta

Penne Pasta w/ chicken in lemon cream sauce
cook diced chicken in pan w olive oil, add about 1/2 tbsp herbs de provence to season, once cooked, remove chicken (put it in a bowl in your microwave, off, to keep it kind of warm) drain excess oil from pan and add one cup chicken broth, use a wooden spoon to scrape the little bits off the pan (this is called deglazing), let simmer about 5 mins, bring heat down to med-lo, add two cups heavy cream, the juice and zest of one lemon, 1/4 cup chopped parsley, and a pinch of cayenne pepper, let simmer about 10 mins, add cooked penne pasta and chicken to the pan, let simmer about 5 mins to allow the pasta to suck up some of the sauce, garnish with some lemon zest
