I am going to the ball (this will be my 7th one). It is very formal. The colors I see most at the ball are black, navy blue, red and White. You can wear whatever color you like but these are most common because they are basic colors and they compliment the mens' dress blues. A long formal gown will do. Some wear short cocktail dresses but very few do most wear a long gown. Most women have an updo for longer hair and the women with shorter hair almost always have a clip with rhinestones or something fancy. I hope you have a good time no matter what you choose to wear. I hope this post was somewhat helpful.

The best advice would be to have him put you in touch with the wife or girlfriend of another Marine (the wife or girlfriend should be someone who has been before and that you can trust) and ask their advice. I've been to those kind of things (it's easy for the Service member, we just wear our mess dress uniforms), but all I can say is that the women are dressed very nice, but being a guy, I couldn't tell you the proper term for it. You are smart to want to be right down the middle, it will reflect well on your Marine, he is lucky to have a girlfriend who exercises good judgement. Have fun!

A long formal dress. I have been to many balls and if you wear a short dress you will be pointed at and talked about all night long. You need to look elegant next to your squared away Marine.

What a special invitation! A longer, formal dress is appropriate. Wear what you feel comfortable in, as long as you use discretion since modesty is a must. Think about how you want to look next to him in his Blues.

It's a formal Occasion and the dress is formal. A gown would be the appropriate dress as your boyfriend will be in service dress blues.

He will be in his dress blues. This is a very formal and fancy affair. Dress to the nines. Don't skimp at all. Wear an evening gown and have your hair in an up-do.
Have fun...

formal, floor length(nothing shorter than tea length definitely).
gloves are not necessary, but tasteful makeup and jewelry is. nothing slit up to the navel nor plunging that far down either. 4 in. stilettos are not a good idea, there will be a lot of standing and walking a round before dinner, and then of course the dancing afterwards.
if you are underage, do NOT drink before during or afterwards, you are a reflection of your BF and he can get into trouble if make a fool of yourself.
