Do I add it after I make the oatmeal? Or do I add fresh fruit while I am making it? Should it be dried fruit? Fresh fruit?

apples or raisins,peaches--put in a bowl and boil in microwave until tender stir in oatmeal. May have to add alittle more boil water to make as thick or thin as you like.
You can add fresh strawberries after you made the oatmeal.

I add dried fruit while I'm making it. The liquid softens the fruit. Most of the time I use raisins, but sometimes dried apricots or Craisins or dried currants.

I would either add it afterwards or at the end, just enough to heat the fruit. You add anything - peaches, bananas, dried apricots. My favorite is raisins, cinnamon, honey, and sliced almonds all added together.

I add it after, certainly you could stir dried fruit in while cooking or after. Simply slice fresh over it in the bowl.
Use which every you prefer. You can't screw it up :)
