Well done you! I am so proud and pleased for you. Get in there and show these young un's that you too have the ability to learn and perhaps eventually earn. Don't become a cheap babysitter for your family. It's never too late to learn, and remember the old adage - if you don't use it you will lose it - get your little grey cells working now before they atrophy totally - like mine! lol:-D

I'm not sure if I understand your question right but if you're trying to learn something that will let you work and earn from home, how about computer graphic design?
You can start pretty quickly in this business by taking specialized classes such as classes for QuarkXpress, Illustrator and PhotoShop. I would also suggest a few art classes to develop the creative edge.
And you should also find a way to learn the different printing processes so that you can steer your customers in the right direction unlike this designer I knew who created amazing looking design that required 4-color printing for customers looking for 500 business cards. Very, very expensive. We ended up never printing a single one of his jobs.
Today, there are ways to do those more cheaply because there is new technology available. This to say that in this business you are in a constant learning mode as you have to keep up with the evolution of the software you are using as well as new software available and also new processes in printing and imaging.
And when you have the time, you can go and take classes in web design too.
I had fun doing it even if some customers can be quite frustrating.
By the way, if you like this idea, get yourself a Mac computer. It is the standard in design and printing and you will avoid many headaches.
Good luck.

Stop The Clock? This is your life now. You have done your job with the kid's and making a home. I am going on 62 yrs and have just returned to College to study community based studies, which i need for the voluntary work I do. I took the bull by the horns 6 yrs ago. Completed a diploma in security studied, then done my leaving certificate.= to cse exam. I then secured a place in College and I graduated in 2005 with an Honours degree in Sociology. You will have a ball. The generation gap does not exist anymore and your confidence will soar like an eagle. You will no longer be on the fringes of conversational issues, you will be the centre of attention and about 6 inches taller. Get out and get a new life for yourself. Start small, and get into the learning mode, then strap yourself in for the adventure of a lifetime, best of luck. Please let me know how you get on????

Do it! you're never too old to do anything. If it's something you want, you deserve it. You can take tons of college courses online. Go to your local community college and ask what courses you can take online (you don't have to work towards a degree), you can take just a class you're interested in or a cerification course. you said you wanted to do computers, maybe they have an excel/word/photoshop, ect. class where after you complete that clas you get a certificate that says you matered that skill if you apply for a job the requires that skill. Those classes are a lot cheaper here too, a regular class is $115 a credit, while the computer courses are like $50

You should definately go for it. Find out what part of a computer-related career interests you (Building? Repairing? Particular programs?) and focus on that. It may even help to go to a book store and get some books related to your major (this helps me a lot). It not only gives you more information, but can also be a good cure for boredom when you're not in class and your homework is finished.
Do worry about your age at all. My previous college semester, I made friends with a nice lady who was in a sitiuation similar to yours. She was majoring in English and was planning on becoming a teacher. She was in her mid-sixties.
I know what you mean by hating staying home all of the time and wanting to get out.....I've had to skip a college semester due to financial difficulties and it's already driving me insane (luckily I'm starting back this spring).
Good luck with your career!

It basically relies upon on the adulthood point of the two human beings. If the nineteen year old acts 15 and the 37 year old acts 50...then which would be a issue. lol. as long as the two human beings have some consumer-friendly floor and share an identical hobbies then any courting can artwork no be counted the age distinction. My sister is 27 and he or she is in a severe courting with a fifty 3 year old guy.

There was wonderful letter and answer from Dear Abby years ago. The writer said she was thinking about going to college, but she would be 60 when she finished.
Abby's response was that she was going to 60 anyway. Would she rather be 60 with a college degree or 60 and regretful?
It applies here. Go for it.
