for the first few years make sure to keep a train or bus map or study it so you wont get lost
dont be afraid to ask someone something
if you seem someone weird looking or get a weird vibe stay way!
if someone "bumps" into check your wallet just in case but no one i know ever got their wallet stolen they probably try to do that to people who look vunerable

Hi -
NYC is a great place full of energy and people on the move. Those who do not enjoy the 24/7 pace live in either Brooklyn, CT, Long Island, Queens, Bronx or New Jersey and take a simple train in.

I am not sure where you are from, but NYC is very fast paced. It can stress or burn some people out very quickly. It does offer a large melting pot of cultures and diversity which makes it so unique.

Good luck and congratulations on your new job.
