calling it an "epidemic" is laughable at best when the minority of people that are obese have actual health problems causing it.

our society jam packed with lazy idiots that are too busy to eat healthy and exercise, it's that plan and simple. only 15% of the US population gets regular exercise so you know less than that eats healthy balanced meals as well. there is 10x the amount of processed foods as all natural foods in our supermarkets. this is a direct reflection of what our society here in the US has chosen to eat on a regular basis.

I actually did a 15 page paper on this topic over the summer. It was for an online class... I was really hoping my prof wasn't obese!

Anyways, I think that it has a lot to do with the fast food industry. There are additives in the food that makes people crave it. I'm not making excuses for people who are obese; all it takes is a healthy diet and some exercise.

I don't buy the whole virus thing at all.

There is no one reason for it. Some people actually have thyroid or other medical issues. Some it's financial, it's more expensive to eat healthy. Then there is the activity issue, with video games and computers kids don't play like they used to. People use a tv as a babysitter, when we were kids we were always outside running around, kids today don't do that as much. Also too much convenience food, you can't eat healthy out of a box and a can. These days with both parents working and no one having a lot of time healthy meals are no longer the norm

on an identical time as i understand that weight problems in seniors is brought about by using medicine they take, and by using sitting lots whilst their legs soreness or can no longer flow alongside rapidly, or somewhat if a girl is post menopausal weight basically happens. As for the load problems epidemic interior the u . s . properly there are a lot of human beings out of artwork, who have no automobile anymore and a few have not got a place to prepare dinner food so as that they get food stamps and purchase the two junk food or in the event that they have some money they eat quickly food as a results of fact that is handy to the place they're living, putting out, or the place they're living in a tent city or the place their automobile is parked that they stay in, or the place they're renting has no place to prepare dinner food. Many a time over the final two decades i've got offered 2 super bags of chips for the fee of one and then that took me 3 days to eat (as important food) alongside with a delicate drink, or i might purchase a junior whopper for under 2 money and that replaced into the only meal all day. yet those issues positioned weight on you even although there is not any longer lots substance to them, in spite of the undeniable fact that that is all that folk can arise with the money for consequently i will comprehend their plight. weight problems isn't somewhat new, that is just one greater of those issues newshounds sense they have a would desire to write down approximately.

There are a lot of reasons:

1. We get less exercise than 40 years ago.

We use automobiles almost exclusively even if the destination is within easy walking distance.

We are working longer hours at jobs that are less physically demanding.

2. Our food industry is poisoning us with all sorts of chemicals in our foods. Especially MSG which is included in just about any soup, mix or packaged food in America. MSG not only creates cravings for food, but also weakens our metabolism.

My personal solution was to stop eating pre-packaged food and to purchase some home exercise equipment.

I don't think that there is any one true answer to the question of obesity. For some it's genetic, for others it's lifestyle, and yet for others it's emotional. I do think that some of it has to do with our frenetic lifestyle. We think we can work 50-60 hrs/week and still have a nutritious meal three times a day/ seven days a week. If you really want to remedy this problem, slow down, do with less and spend more time taking care of your family. Exercise more instead of working at the computer and learn how to eat more for breakfast, less for lunch and a salad for dinner.

Sure genetics etc can play a role but Like many have already said I personally think its You who will be the big factor.
E.g.
Some people are born with brains that can calculate fast but if they won't be able to just solve an equation without being taught or being exposed to it.
same with if just because ur born with genetics that leaves you skinny but if you only have a really unhealthy diet you'll still end up obessed fat. possibly it won't be as visible but internally your health is really bad.

which leads to my second point. Appearance isnt all just becuase some people appear a little chubbier than others they may be more healthier becuase thats just how their body is built. (not saying obessed or fat ... chubby...)

So if someone don't know math but if they have the motivation to learn math, to do questions, by doing these questions you will know how to solve equations etc..
thats the same as exercising..
if you have the motivation to exercise you won't be obesse etc..
ahh gotta study now hehe begining to blab hehe.

like me i was getting 60's - 70's in elementry school average then i decided to try hard and got 80-90 average in highschool and now im in university .. I think its mostly up to the person

People who blame their metabolism for being over weight are just in denial and are trying to make up excuses for being over weight.

The problem also has to do with the fast food industry, and how healthier food is more expensive than processed junk food.

I have a horrible metabolism and I still was able to lose my fat by eating healthy and exercising, and now am trying to gain muscle mass.

It is not okay to be fat. It is a mental illness, and should be treated as such.

i think it maybe a combo of a few of these factors. but mostly i think its self control, and society as a whole. we think of food differently than other cultures. hence we are fatter. it is up to the individual to take responsibility for their health, including eating properly and exercise. not the fast food industry, or the sugar industry. and no its not a virus. that is an excuse, just like genetics
