Combat engineer is not that hazardous as against the infantrymen and those in the frontlines. Thus, it is an excellent work for a family man.

You don't have to be frontline to be in harms way. It's as easy as being on the wrong convoy and lets just put it this way. They issue guns to everyone deploying once you get on that bus to go to the airport not just the infantrymen so quite frankly there is no safe job in the military period. My husband was a Firefighter in the Air Force and was just about hit twice by a mortar on base. So once again don't consider one jobe safer then the other because thats just not the case.
