since you must "believe" it to be given this burden and put yourself into a hell, how can one not believe and then not have to suffer and be burdened with guilt, shame for a crime of another person who is beyond dead?

It does not matter whether you believe it or not. Not believing does not make the truth a lie or vice versa. Because Adam and Eve -representatives for all of mankind- sinned, we have all been born in sin and are separated from God. Because of the Original sin, we all sin. Because of the Original sin we all die and all of creation is under God's curse. Sin is like a disease which is inherited from our ancestors. You do not have to accept the guilt and shame of this sin, nor do you have to accept the judgement and consequences of sin. You can choose Jesus Christ and live.
"I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life". Deut. 30:19

When it comes to sin, Christianity seems to pass the buck an awful lot, doesn't it?

God creates humans with the capacity to sin yet punishes them for sinning, shifting off the blame itself.
God creates Lucifer with the ability to disobey but banishes him to hell for disobedience.
Adam and Eve made a mistake during the origin of humanity and we're still carrying the burden today.

There's too much blame and guilt involved in this ideology for me. I don't deserve and shouldn't have to carry all that weight on my shoulders, and I refuse to ask for forgiveness for things that weren't my fault..

I'm Agnostic, however I've puzzled approximately how a God could system such topics. Maybe you must take a point of view from a God's factor of view considering the fact that your questions are very stunted and missing in clever point of view. Obviously a God who could create a global as this would not manipulate each little element, or this international could be wholly distinctive. Why could there be clinical phenomena? I recognise if I had the vigour to create I could placed matters in movement and permit them to roll and notice what occurred. According to Christian texts this international is a trying out floor. Why could God manipulate the whole lot on a trying out floor to look who he desired to take your next step? Wouldn't that be type of defeating the factor? From a God's point of view, if there could be everlasting lifestyles, this lifestyles would not be all there may be and the entire matters that arise would not particularly be all most important. As from a little one's point of view matters that appear totally most important to them, aren't a large deal to others who have lived one hundred instances longer. If God is aware of the deal, what is going to occur, perhaps the entire little matters in the world that we believe are massively most important, particularly aren't. If you're going to be an atheist and consider your self to be extra clever than Christians you condescend to, you want a hell of plenty of labor. Right now your conceptual point of view is a shaggy dog story, you are type of appearing like a stunted unintelligent bone head with an ego solution to large to your brains.

Because Adam and Eve became spiritually dead in their sins thus separating themselves from God their offspring will be born the same way.
Because like begets like such as a dog gives birth to dogs and cats give birth to cats such is the same with the spiritually dead.
That is why Jesus had a human mother and God for His Father so He would be born spiritually alive therefore having a life to give in exchange for ours.
Jesus who was innocent and spiritually alive was punished and died so the rest of us who are dead and full of sin could be given spiritual life and made innocent in the eyes of a Holy God.
He literally traded places with us.
So sin no longer separates us from God,once you accept Christ and are washed clean of your sins and given spiritual life the sin of Adam and Eve is canceled out thereby giving you the new covenant by which God has provided us with.
You go from being a descendant of Adam to a descendant of Jesus who is and always will be Gods only begotten son.
So don't feel shame and guilt over what happened because it no longer applies to us as long as we're reborn in the body of Christ and taken out of Adam.
God loves you very much and would do anything for you all you have to do is ask.

Good question!

"I'm sorry you have no choice. The bible says ....."

Excuse me but I do have a choice. A book with an unknown author will never force me to believe anything or take the blame for something my ancestors did. That's ludicrous and that's why I just can't put my faith behind something with such ridiculous rules. A talking burning bush, a snake and a forbidden apple....sounds a bit too much like Grim's Fairy Tales to me. Also, if I were to believe that God's responsible for me having horrible cramps and throwing up every month because he forsake Eve, he would not be a God that I would want to worship. Sorry.

Fortunately Adam and Eve are a myth, as is most if not all for the rest of the bible. We know it's a myth as there is no supporting evidence for it and besides the contradictions God's unchangable nature shanges throughout it. Even if we take the Creation through the Exodus as metaphorical, it does not solve the problem, if anything it compounds it.

Actually there were five crimes committed. Eve ate the apple (one). Adam, according, to some interpretations was very near, and saw her do it and did not stop her (two). Then he took a bite (three). BUT, g_d, who by definition was also near, saw Eve and did not stop her (four) and saw adam and did not stop him (five). Now ask yourself, who should be held to a higher standard, a naked man and woman just learning the ropes or an infinitely wise g_d, who has been to a few rodeos him/herself? Did I mention that this is a fairy tale?

You need to start all over.
Get a Companion Bible (none other like it, get it on Amazon books) and sit down and STUDY it, it gets into the original meaning of the words.
It makes a tremendous change in one's life to be biblically literate and actually gives you a purpose, belief, and joy!
You are totally and completely confused! I cannot help you with only 1 answer.

You are not blamed for Adam and Eve. Be perfect.
All men sin and all men die.

Sin enters the world through Adam you are not judged for Adam's sin but your own sin. When sin entered the world we say we inherited sin all men have sin natures and all men sin.
Though sin entered the world through one man sin is also defeated by one man Jesus.

Then you join the half a billion or so Christians who do not believe in original sin. (And I'm not just throwing out a number, here - there are about a half a billion Christians who do not believe in original sin. That's roughly 2 and a half times the population of the United States.)
