Aren't we all from Adam's race? We all sin. Babies and children aren't accountable, though, until they are old enough to be held accountable. How old is that?

We are all born with a sin nature. That means, left to its own devices, a nature will tend to sin. Watch kids in a group. They are horrid. They bite, kick, steal, rat on others, whine, are selfish. You don't have to teach children to behave like this...you have to teach them to be civilized.

The bible does not expressly give any certain age as the "age of accountability", that I know of.

No one is held accountable for the Original Sin. Children are not held accountable for their actions until the age of 8.

How can babies be born with sin? I do not believe that. As soon as one is old enough to reason, that is the age of accountability.

I think accountability for children varies. Some children 6 or 7 years old can understand and make a choice. I was baptized at age 7 and I knew exactly what it was and what I was doing. Some children may not understand till much later. I think we become accountable for our sins when we understand what sin is.

Islam does not believe that mankind is born inheritantly evil and with a burden of some original sin.

In fact Islam says every child is born totally sinless and pure and if they were to die at any early age they would go to paradise without any accountability.

In Islam there is no concept of punishing a child for the sins of the father and there is no concept of lawful procreation(sex) being a dirty or sinful act.

Islam does not believe we are predisposed to commit sin and being imperfect creations, we are not predisoposed to absolute goodness either. On the contrary Islam says we have choice to obey or disobey God. The choice is ours either way equally. To predispose us to lean to one side would not be true freedom of choice or free will.

Islam believes that all disobedience is bad – Pride, lying, cheating etc. but mankind is not guilty until proven innocent. In Islam all are innocent until proven guilty. We are not born guilty of crimes but when we do commit crimes then there is forgiveness through repentance.

The way to atone for the sins is through sincere repentance to God directly without any priest/pastor or intercessor. God is the one who loves to forgive the sins of those who cry in repentance…..with broken hearts. This shows our humility and recognition of the Sovereignty of the Lord.

God is the one who gives strength to mankind to obey his laws and come closer to him. The only thing we need is the sincere heart felt desire and intention.

Accountability is started at the age of puberty – when children start to distinguish between right and wrong and can make choices.

Islam says that God created us and blew his spriit into our souls. If no evil were to tempt a man then he would perfectly recognize who the Lord is and submit in total obedience just as we will the second after we pass away.

Islam is therefore the effort to protect the heart and cultivate the goodness which is in every heart.

The heart is protected from outside corruption by obeying the Laws of God in every sphere of life - 24 hours a day (hadith and sunnah) and by bringing the correct understanding of the oneness of God and perfect Monotheism (as detailed in the Quran).

Would we hold a 2 year accountable for walking out of a store with a piece of candy? Of course not, they don't know they are sinning. Therefore how would God want to condem his babies and children.

"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." (Ezekiel 18:20)

This verse clearly teaches that the guilt of sin is not inherited.

Also, 1 John 3:4 says, "sin is the transgression of the law." If a babies are guilty of sin, what law have they transgressed? What law are they capable of transgressing, or even understanding?

Babies are born free of sin. Actually, I can say that with confidence, because I don't believe in the concept of sin. Mistake, wrong choice, rotten thing to do, whatever. Sin is somebody else's word. As I understand it, the meaning is roughly "going against God's rules." Since I don't believe in God, that's easy for me: no sin.

Well none of us are born with original sin. Adam & Eve disobeyed. That was THE original sin. Our sinful condition is a result of their fallen condition. So yes. We are all born sinners but with the hope of gaining salvation through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

It is different for each child. We know through child behavior studies that somewhere between 24 and 42 months after birth, the conscience reaches a point to where it starts to grasp the basic difference between between right and wrong. Once that starts to occur, then sin follows.
