I was wondering what you guys would rather have. A Ruger M77 MKII Sporter stainless in 30-06 caliber or a Glock 21 in .45 ACP caliber. I know this is comparing to TOTALLY different things but which would you like better? The Ruger would be used for target shooting with the occasional hunting trip. The .45 would also be used for target shooting. The Glock would be cheaper to shoot and maybe more fun. But I do want another hunting rifle other than my marlin 30/30.

The Ruger 30-06 is a much faster barrel velocity then the Glock .45 cal. The Ruger is a much more accurate weapon also, The glock is a nice gun, I own a Model 17 an 21 and wouldn't trade them but they are both .40 cal.
Even still the Ruger is a stronger gun when you are talking the difference between 30-06 over .45cal.
The Glock is a really reliable hand gun and rarely misfires or jams, it's easy to take care of and light weight.
I guess the final decision is your but I would ask to test fire both if possible.
Good Luck, I think either way you go you will be happy.

Absolutely the Ruger M77, however I would not get a Glock.* I prefer the Colt Combat Commander in 45 acp because it is well balanced, easy to carry, comfortable to shoot & Deadly & lethal.* Its not what you pay for something that matters, its what you get for what you pay.* Great Pistol, Quality Pistol, Dependable & Durable.*

Why not both? Then all you have to worry about is which one you are going to buy first. What does your Dad think of the idea? Anyway..I'd check out your options before you settle on a Glock 21. Both of these guns are expensive to use for target practice

I am not a Glock guy but I would choose the pistol because I do not like long guns. I think handguns are more fun...I shoot the Springfield Armory XDs.

.45 Auto is .45 ACP. The "ACP" stands for "Automatic Colt Pistol," and most manufacturers other than Colt do not want the name "Colt" on any of their products, hence the name ".45 Auto." Just make sure you don't use .45 GAP, which is not compatible with .45 ACP.

The M77 would be the better choice.

.45 because it has decent range and maximum effectivity, an which the glock is lower in both.
