My guinea pig has been acting strange lately and has been sqweeking and scratching like she is itchy. I have checked her fur and she has no fleas and no mites or dandruff... Alos when I picked her up this morning she was twitching like something was biting her... What could it be?? It seems to be worse at night time.

It sounds like mites. Mites live UNDER the skin, so you won't see them. If her hair is falling out and her skin is turning really white and somewhat flaky, that is what she has. If you take her to the vet, they'll give her some flea-dip medicine (you can put her in the sink and rub it on her with cotton balls) and they'll probably do some injections (more than one if they need it). Sometimes, mites cause seizures, so your little piggie may be suffering from those.

My guinea pig had mites and suffered from seizures. He's better now. To stop the mites from returning you must do a full cleaning of the cage from now on. First, sweep out all the bedding and wash all the dishes. (If you're guinea pig has hammocks or washable frabics, wash those too.) Next, scrub the cage with vinegar (the floor and the bottom of the sides). Vinegar really gets all that nasty stubborn piggie poo off the floor. Next, scrub the cage with bleach. The bleach will really sanitize and kill any mites. You may want to wear old clothes or even an apron for the bleaching part.

My piggie has been mite free for over a year and a half but I still go through the whole cleaning process because I don't want the mites to come back.

Good luck!

She needs Ivemectin and fast! You can buy it at a feed and seed store-it's sold for horses. It only takes a little bit. about the amount that is the size of a pencil eraser. Vet's also use it for ear mites in cats. In the meantime cover the guinea pigs back with neem oil (from walmart) or baby oil if you can't get out. Act fast!

It does sound like mites. Their biting is very uncomfortable & some types of mites can kill your guinea pig is they're not treated. I've read that pigs are more likely to bite when they're suffering from mites, simply b/c the discomfort stresses them out & puts them in a bad mood.

it sounds like mites you can get a treatment from the pet shop in a spray form or powder but i find that's not effective,
if mine get mites i take them to my boss who is a vet and they have a course of injections for 4 weeks.
mites live in the bedding as well so the bedding will need to be changes while being treated

It sounds like mites, mites are microscopic so you can not see them. They burrow underneath their skin and cause extreme pain, without treatment it leads to death. You need to see a professional exotic, they will start you on either Ivermectin or Revolution.
