All over this answers thing we have people who dont understand christianity bashing catholics based on things they think we believe. Why is that.
And when they say we know you believe it!, is it just to annoy me?
I go to a spirit filled Catholic church. I never hear Hail Marys, I never pray to saints, all I see is complete focus on Jesus and love for God.
I have found that everything that goes on in Church within the mass is found in the bible. You can interpret it that way.
Why do people disagree, is it because they dont have any Church history or writings to show them how to interpret the bible.
For years I thought that the bible was Gods infallible word and should be taken on its own.
Now I find in the bible that it says that you scripture isint for personal interpretation. But people have been doing that for 400 years, why is that and is that the reason there are 50,000 denominations all believing different things and thinking they are right.

Dear me - I didnt say that Catholics do not ask saints or ask mary to pray for them.
They do, just not as much as you seem to think.
Further I think Jesus will be a bit fed up with the protestants bashing his mother all the time.
Lastly, Catholic was the only church until 1600, there were heresies before then but they passed away. Why did protestantism last, because it is the teachings of me.

Thanks Robert, you are a light. I do not have the privilege of attending a Spirit filled Catholic church, which I would love. But My parish has a large number of Charismatics, and we Belong to a vibrant Charismatic Community in the Area that is Ecumenical, we are made up of about 50-60% Roman Catholics. The rest of our community are Greek Orthodox, Lutheran, Free Church, Methodist and a few others. We live out a commitment to each other to love one another and support one another in our walk of Faith.
We believe that as it says in John 15 "they will know we are Christian by our love".

Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible? No. The word "truth" is used several times in the New Testament. However, the plural version of the word "truth" never appears in Scripture. Therefore, there can only be one Truth. So how can there be over 20,000 non-Catholic Christian denominations all claiming to have the "Truth" (i.e., the correct interpretation of the Bible)? For that matter, aren't ALL non-Catholic Christians as individuals claiming "infallibility" when it comes to interpreting the Bible? Catholics only believe in the infallibility of the Papacy as an office. Which is more believable - one office holding infallibility or 400 million non-Catholic Christians who can't agree on the interpretation of Scripture all claiming "infallibility?" When it comes to interpreting Scripture, individual non-Catholic Christians claim the same infallibility as the Papacy. If one were to put two persons of the "same" non-Catholic Christian denomination (i.e., two Presybterians, two Lutherans, two Baptists, etc.) in separate rooms with a Bible and a notepad and ask them to write down their "interpretation" of the Bible, passage for passage, shouldn't they then produce the exact same interpretation? If guided by the Holy Spirit as Scripture states, the answer should be "Yes." But would that really happen? History has shown that the answer is "No." Now, in the case of Catholics, the Church which Christ founded and is with forever (Matthew 28:20) interprets the Bible, as guided by the Holy Spirit, (Mark 13:11) for the "sheep" (the faithful). The Church (not individuals) interpret Scripture. In Catholicism, Scripture is there for meditation, prayer and inspiration, not for individual interpretation to formulate doctrine or dogma.
The only reason that I can think of is that the Catholic Church is created by Christ and all others are protesting what He created. I guess they think that as men they can create a better and more enduring church than did Christ. The tens of thousands of exponentially increasing schisms and denominations prove that they can not.
The Catholic Church has no practices or doctrines that are in conflict with Scriptures

When you read 2 Peter 1: 20-21, what is the sense in which "private interpretation" is used? It is telling us that the "prophecy of scripture" "never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit". Its telling us that the scriptures were God inspired, as opposed to man-made, not that only a select few are able to interpret them.

I'm glad you attend the local parish that you do.
Most Catholics are not that fortunate.
There are less than 500 denominaitons in the USA. And if you look at where they vary in belief you'll find they have much more in common with each other than the Church of Rome does with the Bible.
Below I'll give you a link to a group of about 50 denominations who agree on all major points of theology.
The other 450 denominaitons are groups which no longer claim to believe the Bible anymore.
Such as the Lutheran groups and Episcopal groups who think its ok to be gay.
The Pope thinks its ok to reject the Book of Genesis and thinks that Evolution happened.
Why?
Please explain why the Pope thinks that's ok?
Thank you,
Pastor Art

People are stupid. I was raised Catholic, the church is much more than Mary or Saints. It focuses on Jesus and his promises.

Catholics, a branch off from the Roman pagans who were taught about Jesus by Paul after Jesus told all his disciples "not to go to the Gentiles" and u folks did incorporate and do follow many of those paganistic practices.
U folks were mislead from the start by following the man who was once possesed by an evil spirit (how do u know if it ever left him?), and who admits to use lies to give god glory (Rom. 3:7) thus making him a liar. And if u doubt him being a liar, always remember a liar has no memory; which is the reason why he contradicts himself about meeting Jesus at the roadside.
Acts- 9:7 he says the men with HEARD A VOICE but SAW NO MAN.
Acts-22:9 the men SAW THE LIGHT but HEARD NOT THE VOICE WHICH SPOKE. In verse 7 of this chapter & 9:4 of this book-Acts- it says he (Paul) alone fell to the earth BUT....
Acts- 26:14 says WE ALL FELL TO EARTH.
I may not know everything but i do know this is NOT divinely inspired by god.

Look up anti-catholicism in america, oddly enough it is still quite vibrant today, lots of americans get angry at catholics when evangelicals do something that annoys them.

The only things you need to start a new church are a store front, a collection plate, and a resentment.

mm I don't go to a catholic church because (as I said in a previous question) that I don't like their history. As an organized religion they're an entity that can be based on their past actions I believe. :S
Hmm actually would they be an entity? :|
