Christian Psychologist

Both careers study human behavior. The difference in the two is that psychiatry is more about the medical and physiological implications of the brain on behavior - which is why this degree requires first a medical doctors degree and all the years required. It requires clinical time and psychiatrist can prescribe medications.

Psychologist cannot prescribe meds. They do not delve into the anatomy of the brain or the scientific impllications of the brain on the behavior per se. They study moreso the interaction and the reaction of human behavior as it relates to outside environmental influences.

If you don't mind spending 8+ years to be a Dr. of Psychiatry, then that's the field for you. If you want to help people, but aren't fond of spending the long time it will take in school, then Psychology is for you.

I'm assuming you mean psychologist or psychiatrist? If so, the difference is whether you have a medical degree or not.

A Psychiatrist is a mental health professional with a medical degree.

A Psychologist generally has a PhD in psychology but no medical degree.

Both deal with mental health/illness but the psychiatrist tends to be more focused on the physical processes where a psychologist is focused more on the mental/emotional processes.

Deciding between the two is basically a matter of deciding whether you want to go to medical school or not. Both are worthwhile careers.
