A lot of things Christians say is something like Christian jargon. Sometimes we use it and don't even realize it. Every religion has its quirks.

First off, I hope that you never ask God for help in any situation nor that you believe in Satan, as that would make you not an atheist! I know many people who say they are atheist, yet they ask for God's help and claim there is a Devil. Atheist believers believe in pretty much nothing. If you believe there is something or may be a God and Satan, then, my friend, you are an agnostic. I do agree with you on one point. Yes, some Christians do try and shove our beliefs at people. That is wrong. We are ambassadors for the Lord and should only lead by example. I personally only offer my views when asked. I judge no one for their belief as only God has the right to judge. It is also not that those Christians were not speaking English, but that they were possibly quoting scripture. I also think that if you took more time to understand what they were saying instead of judging you would have known that. A walk with God and an eternity in Paradise is something we each are offerred, but have to choose for ourselves. The choice is yours. God Bless You!

Yes, I do understand. It's so phony.
BUT -- these types are really quite radical and a lot are dangerous with their views and thoughts of religious war.
I have an uncle and an aunt who are truly kind people and go to church regularly and like to talk with their pastor. They are very much against this war and Bush.
So, which religious right churches are proponents of this war and Bush policies? There are a lot and most notably they speak of God almost always like Bush or more. These people are dangerous.
Similar type minds, perhaps, as those who drank cool aide at Jonestown.

Apologies for answering, even though I'm not an Atheist.
You didn't say "Atheists only".
Yeah, I too know how annoying it can sound. Before I became a Christian, a relative of mine used to say, "Lord willing" a lot - I asked her if she could ever say anything without "the Lord" in her statement. So, I try not to use "stock phrases" - they kind of lose their impact from over-use.

Their "answers" are all well rehearsed. They have had a couple of hundred years, since science began making huge advancements, to perfect their circular reasoning, double talking verbal acrobatics. If you notice, they dodge almost every reasonable question that is asked here. They deny, evade, or ignore. It shows how empty and baseless their belief system is. The best thing to do is to sit back and watch them shuck and jive when a really good question leaves them no escape.

Hate our form of expression if you want, but woe unto thee, for God's wrath shall wax hot against thee. But shouldst thou find the light of God's truth, then shall ye find grace in His eyes, and His kingdom shall be thy kingdom. And ye shall dwell in the house of the Lord for six months with an option to buy.

It's called role-playing.
If they play the role of what they believe to be Christian-like, it makes them feel more righteous.
Feeding the delusion, if you will.
