Back in college, a friend and I saw our voice teacher walking across campus eating ice cream. My friend, in a rather snotty fashion said, "Isn't dairy bad for your voice?" Our voice teacher smiled and popped off a beautiful high C, then said, "No."
I learned that day, that if you have absolutely flawless technique and perfect control of your instrument, really, there really aren't any foods you need to worry about. For the rest of us mere mortals, it is wise to avoid dairy products right before singing. They can stimulate the production of mucus, too much of which can get in the way. Also, it can be wise to avoid anything too acidic. Keeping hydrated is a good thing to do, for general health, not necessarily for singing. Another voice teacher tried to point out that constantly drinking water can actually be detrimental to vocal production. Saliva and a reasonable amount of mucus and all that fun stuff naturally lubricate the vocal apparatus, if you drink too much water right before you sing, you can wash away all the natural lubricants and actually dry you up. My most recent teacher always kept hard candy on his piano. Sucking on a cough drop or hard candy actually stimulates the salivary glands, taking care of dryness naturally.

We have been told to avoid milk and stuff like that because it damages your voice. I was also told to drink honey-lemon water before performing. There is a special kind of water for singing before it i know this because my cousin took singing lessons and she got this water for voice class.

Before you sing, steer clear of all dairy products because they coat your vocal chords, and any rough grains or foods (like granola) because they can scratch up your throat. drink lots of water or tea, whichever you prefer, and adding lemon or honey to those will help your chords be healthy!

i've heard milk products and soda are big no-no's before you sing.
if your throat is sore, try some honey tea. large amounts of water help as well.
other than that, idt i've been told anything...

You should avoid milk products because they thicken the mucous and give you a husky voice. Lots of liquid.
