I can't get firefox to open pdf files. Instead of opening them in a new tab it keeps asking me if i want to download them. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling adobe acrobat that didn't work, i tried installing foxit reader, that didn't work. I already tried going into the options and changing the action for pdf files to use plugin, that didn't work. how am i supposed to fix this.

Try download PDF Download as an add-on for firefox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/636

This Allows to choose if you want to view a PDF file inside the browser (as PDF or HTML), if you want to view it outside Firefox with your default or custom PDF reader, or if you want to download it!

I have had this installed for quite some time and have had no trouble with opening PDF's from Firefox since.

Adobe Reader has an option to choose whether you want it to open in the browser or in its own window.

Close the browser
Run Adobe Reader
Edit..Preferences
Choose Internet
Check "Display PDF in browser"

If that doesn't work, or the option isn't called "Display PDF in browser", then you have a very old version of Adobe Reader. Current version is 8.1.

i think of the firefox version you're making use of would have issues I even have been making use of firefox for quite a few years, via fact the hot version I even have been having issues of my initiate. It ultimately stopped loading, so i went to my typical browser and each thing is working ok. So try your previous browser and notice if it makes a distinction.
