Yet another immigration-related question...
A 'conservative' usually means a person who likes to conserve the way thing are, who likes tradition, and who generally opposes change. As people age they usually become conservative.
In the last 20 years America has experienced steady and massive immigration, mostly from Mexico, due to open borders, illegals acceptation in our society, non-crackdown on employment, etc. If I want to CHANGE this (ie secure our border, buid the wall, crackdown on hiring, stimulate exmigration, etc) then why I am categorized as CONSERVATIVE by certain? Is it because I want to keep America the way it was in the past? But doesn't this require drastic changes to the current situation? Please help untangle this paradox...

People are calling you conservative because you want things to be the way they WERE. The changes you want will make the country what it was. The problem with this is that we have so many illegals in our country. Things will never be like they were before. Conservatives may be opposed to change, but when changes happen, planned change may be necessary to revert back to the way things were. Confusing, sorry.

The Republicans (conservatives) are tighter on the whole illegal immigration situation than the Democrats. (This is just what I think)

I believe that policy does need to change, but something needs to be done about the millions of illegals already here.

Conserve to me means: Waste not want not!

This era labels are slapped on people one and all, It's nonsense as I see it. Opinions are opinions and every one has one! with or with out a label. It's a blame game. Maybe it is because you used the word *change* Most people phrase it as keep the laws we have on the books, secure the boarders. The thing is it is not a conservative or a liberal issue.--------It is a corrupt corporation congress issue from
both sides, especially via Kennedy, Reid. If it was not for
reb. sen. Jeff Sessions mainly and a few others including
in. Berny Sanders. Had not been for those two mainly, Kennedy, Reid, and most other Dems. would have passed
the give it away last Spring. And Bush wanted it passed too.
Sooooooooo, Die hards be they Dems. or Reps. have to blame one or the other. As I see it both parties are corrupt
and game players on most issues, more so now with this forever campaging for 2008! Get thick skined when you make a political or religion statement, Because with out a doubt you will be labeled as something you may or may not be. It happens to all of us! Blessings.

Conservatives generally want to preserve traditions, not the short term status quo. Sometimes this means supporting changes to force things back to the way they were in the past.

Karma method movement and all movements have penalties / outcome. However outcome aren't simply stylish upon movements in addition they rely on stipulations. So you cannot difference your beyond movements however you've got manipulate over your reward movements (karma) which is able to final result the stipulations. So karma isn't one hundred% fatalistic. If it was once one hundred% fatalistic there might be no escaping samsara. The 3rd and fourth noble truths might be unnecessary and there might simply be the primary 2 noble truths. There is a pronouncing “Bodhisattvas worry reasons, sentient beings worry results and outcome." Which method if you happen to defend your reward movements the penalties will ultimately be well however if you happen to attention at the outcome and now not the movements one will maintain to wander in samsara.

Hmmm - interesting question!

Well - for one thing. It's good not to accept labeling at it's face value. That leads to complacancy and a "follow the crowd" mentality (a large reason why I think the truely conservitive element of this nation doesn't control the Republican party).

Firstly - lets look at what is clearly "liberal".

"Right to Choose" - The common slogan of people who support abortion. Let me translate this properly. The right to have sex, protected or not, knowing full well that that protection is not 100% successful and to then to not take responsiblity for that outcome. To redefine the "fetus" as a "parasite", and to then call it a "non-life".

Then to abort that "non-life" and forget about it.

In my personal opinion, this is a crime of irresponsibility. Now, I'm not saying all abortion is wrong. There are times, when the baby has 100% no chance of survival, and it will kill the mother that an abortion is nessicary. However, when young teens produces a pregnacy from a one nighter and then expect to just walk away from it. I think that's irresponsible.

So - we have estabilished that liberalism stands directly for people not having to take responsiblity for their actions. This is what they believe. That only those with power should be responsible, "War on Poverty" is another example of this. Taxation of the Rich and the expansion of goverment control on the "common" man's lives is a continuation of this.

However, at the same time, the Republican party, has chosen to ignore it's constituents, allowing illegal immigration in exchange for the coveted "hispanic voting block". This is wrong, because it does not hold true to the ideals of our nations founding. We should know who is coming into our country. That is what a VISA is for, that is why we have immigration policies... to keep out those who bring disease, who bring war, and who do not beleive in the american dream.

Conservatives beleive in these things:

1. Personal Responsibility
2. Small, Effiecient Central Goverment
3. "Strict Interpretation" of the Constitution.

I am going to concentrate on the first point. because that covers the second point, the third I will get to in a bit.

Personal Responsibility - We conservatives believe that people should be responsible for themselves and that this is nessicary for personal happiness. If a person is constantly being given things, he will have no pride in them because he did NOT earn them. Look at any spoil rich boy for an example of that kind of person.

Conseratives believe that it is each person who HAS money's right to keep that money... but also their right to contribute to the public good. He or she can do this through charity, through volenteering, or simply by buying a poor man a hot meal.

Goverment should not replace the giving heart of the nation. We should not be taxed to support those who will not support themselves. That is the job of charities... not goverment. The job of the people, not the system.

Laws do not create a moral or just people. Laws have no heart and therefore are easily misused and abused. How many times have you seen a man get away with stealing because he was able to figure out away around the current laws that are in place? It's because law doesn't govern the heart of man.

Finally - "strict interpretation" of the constitution has all but been abandoned. It has been interpreted away from it's original meaning bit by bit until we have underminded it far away from it's original intent.

For instance, here's the 10th Amendment

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved for the States respectively, or to the people"

This means that, by our strongest law, there is no constitutional allowance for a federal social security program. period. End of story.

However, like I've said before. Politicians have simply used this document to whatever ends they figure they need at the moment.

So to answer your question that you asked so long ago. Your being catagorized as a conservative for having a logical and ideal stance on a subject that both parties are trying to whore themselves out too, and so your being ostrisized so that you won't speak up.

Sorry - that was a bit of a rant in all directions.

I would like our borders secured myself. Everyone in this country is an immigrant except Native Americans. I think we need to do something about this illegal immigration. There are some people who want to come here legally that can add something positive to our country. I agree with you. Now watch those thumbs go down!

Because you do not believe there way and being a Conservative is a bad thing to them. So you are bad. Usually they would call you a bigot. Peace
