Swish some cold milk around in your mouth---you may have to sip it periodically throughout the night and keep the cold milk in the area of the bad tooth but eventually, the nerve endings will quit firing causing the pain. Don't drink more than a half gallon as it will constipate you. Ora-gel helps deaden the pain too.

Take 4-5 200mg ibupropen tablets. I just went through this too and ibupropen is an anti-inflammant that will temporarily calm your tooth down, but be prepared to get up in the middle of the night and repeat the dosage as the original dosage wear off.

Sounds like you have an absessed tooth and the pain won't start to go away until the dentist opens up and drains the infection, as the infection has no where to go but to either your brain or your heart until the dentist does... hence, the pain.

When I had a root canal the dentist had me take 3 ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) and one Tylenol.

The combination really works.

Good luck and hope you feel better.
