This is my second child by birth, I had no problems weening off my daughter. I tried the same method with my son but he still thinks he needs to be breast fed in the middle of the night, befor nap and bed time. He refuzes the bottle ,but will take a sippy cup during mealtimes. he loves food and does very well with solid foods that we give him

It sounds like he needs the cuddling more than the food. One thing you can do is get into the practice of cuddling without feeding at certain times of the day, and then the next week refuse him the breast before nap time, then the next week refuse him the breast (but still cuddle) in the middle of the night, and after a couple weeks refuse him the breast at bedtime but continue the cuddling. This way he knows he can snuggle for loving touch without the food involved.
Good luck. I quit the day my then 11-month old daughter bit me. She's now 6 and just fine.

He's only 10 months old - what's the rush? Let the baby nurse! He'll give it up when he's ready. My son weaned himself at just shy of 14 months, and it was completely child - led. It's a much more natural, gentle process than just taking away the source of nutrition and comfort he's had since birth. Before 12 months, any solids he eats are just for practice; the breast milk is the only nutrition he needs. So if you wean him now, that means buying formula for another 2 months.

When you give him the bottle, lie down with him, and hold him as if he was to take a breast, but give him the bottle. That might work.Someone said it sounds like he wants to be held more than fed, so to position him as to take a breast but then to give him the bottle, your still close to him while he eats. Or you could dry out your breast by wrapping them in cabbage leaves.

Unfortunately, not all of our kids are alike. The best thing for you to do is to hold him really close to you and give him a bottle...this will create the closeness he so desires and yet wean him away. I think after a few days, he will be okay with the bottle.
Good Luck to You!!!

It may have nothing to do with hunger at this age as he starts to teethe.Could be comfort he's looking for so try bonjela on his gums before bedtime. If it's not that try upping his solids intake.
I fed three sons. They all differed when it came to weaning.Trial and error I'm afraid.Good luck.

I remember how my granpappa weened the calf. If in the first 2-3 months he starts eatin hay, then in the 4t month, you tie'em up, away from the cow, and only feed him grass and hay.
Dunno 'bout children, but if ya need help brandin'em, i gots a perty brand with their name on it!
