Good thinking---it's an utter disgrace that one mans religious superstitions can hold back the possible miracles that stem cell research promises--Thank goodness other nations are not hobbled by dark-age rhetoric.Religious propaganda should not be allowed to negate mans' social progress.

Throwing funds at Stem cellular study is like throwing funds at Solyndra. there has been no evidence what so ever that stems cells could make Michael J Fox provide up shaking or might have made Christopher Reed arise and stroll and after years and years of study and billions and billions of dollars wasted they nonetheless have no evidence or have been in a position to do something with stem cells.

OR...
Let's pass a law that stem cells for such research may be harvested from the many sources available that don't involve murdering an innocent child...
And then, EVERYONE benefits!!
Why does anyone actually think that babies need to be executed in order for them to "maybe find a cure for some diseases"?
What does that actually say about the people who do think this way?
I wouldn't exactly call such folks "winners"...
Each one of us wants the best in medical technology for ourselves and for our loved ones. But where do we stop? Suppose someone discovers a way to cure cancer, but his discovery needs brain cells from a three month old infant?
Would it be OK to begin "harvesting" baby brains, to cure your Aunt Dorothy's cancer?
Think about it...

for one, there's an argument that the govt shouldnt be forcing people to committ moral suicide with their own tax money. some of us call this the 'constitutional' position. btw, not funding stem cell reseach doesnt thereby outlaw the practice of researching it.
(of course, medical research is great - but the greatest medical advancements of the 20th cent - the eradication of polio, yellow fever, malaria, small pox - came without large amounts of govt funding.)

Go lobby for it. Be my guest. Knock yourself out! Write your congressperson, if you know his or her name.
It will never pass, and even if it did,
it would never survive a Constitutional challenge. Christians may refuse a treatment but they can't be denied it on the basis of their religion. Neither can anyone else be denied on the basis of what they happen to believe.

Fine by me,I would sooner die than have a infant murdered.
As to the other I was raped at 14 ,I developed toxemia and was clinically dead for several minutes,in hospital for 3 months, butchered ,and I was so thrilled when I saw my beautiful daughter happiest day of my life.I raised that precious girl at 14 and she is now my best friend.Thou shalt not kill.

I like it...except we'd have to go to every single person and ask if they were christian or not christian...that'd take way too long plus there'd be more people comming and leaving all the time.

Great idea. I think this could work. Those who think that praying and pouring holy water will benefit them fine, while the rest will use stem-cells to cure us
