i live in Texas, and will be paying about $4000 in federal taxes this year, my wife doesnt work. How much will i get back ?

You'll calculate your total tax liability, then subtract that from whatever you had withheld - if you had too much withheld, then you'll get the extra back. A refund just returns your overpayment, like getting change in a grocery store - it's not something the government just gives to you, it's your money.
