The late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin (died 11-14-96), also gay. In some photos he displays an extremely strange & perhaps sinister hand gesture--a symbol of his membership in the occult or secret society. Think there are other Cardinals, or Bishops of the Catholic faith into satanic practices? Would every Mass be considered invalid in which he presided over? How would that effect the people who attended Mass?

I checked further on whether or not a priest, Brother, Bishop or Cardinal who was a satanist or into the occult (no names mentioned) and conducted the Mass, was or is it valid. I was told if it was proven beyond any shadow of a doubt to be true, the Mass(es) would be invalid. You cannot serve two masters! I hope this Cardinal is not a satanist! Only God knows.

Being Jewish does have its advantages when dealing with a subject that does not affect you. This Urban Legend has been around since about 1990. I met the Cardinal and had a long discussion with him. He was one of the most sincere individuals I have ever met. We never mentioned Satin. We did discuss Vatican 2, because I thought the Latin Mass was beautiful. I never saw any indication he was gay.
Methinks you believe what you want to believe and I will leave it at that.

1. Where is the hard evidence to back up your claims? I'm genuinely interested if you do have any real evidence.
2 You wrote: "In some photos he displays an extremely strange & perhaps sinister hand gesture--a symbol of his membership in the occult or secret society."
Again, where is the evidence --- direct us please?
3."Think there are other Cardinals, or Bishops of the Catholic faith into satanic practices?"
Yes, that is a possibilty without a doubt. But, as you appreciate, they wouldn't be adhering to Catholicism if they were into the occult, but rather the "enemy within".
4. "Would every Mass be considered invalid in which he presided over? How would that effect the people who attended Mass?"
Interesting question. The answer is: If the minister was validly consecrated, (in this case this Cardinal) and used the correct matter (bread & wine) and form (correct words of Consecration of these elements) of the Sacrament, (viz. Holy Eucharist) the Masses would be valid. As far as the people are concerned - the effect would be that they would receive valid sacraments. The personal spiritual state of the minister (good or evil) does not interfere with the validity of the Sacraments, as long as he uses the correct matter and form.
However, if a bishop was a satanist, one would obviously wonder whether he would be purposely invalidating the Sacraments he administered. After all, being a satanist is working for the devil, which is the opposite side.
In closing: This is all hypothetical because you've produced no hard evidence to back up your claims. And, if you think hard, it would be highly unlikely that a "crypto satanist" (i.e. secret, because you couldn't be out in the open or you'd be excommunicated very quickly) would be openly making extremely strange & perhaps sinister hand gestures for people to photograph.
I hope this helps.

The power invested in a Bishop or Priest is not diminshed by thier own sins or sinful character, in the case of consecration at Mass the bread and wine would still become the body and blood of Christ regardless of the state of the Priests own soul, and this applies to Confession where the penitent is forgiven and still would receive Gods mercy.
As for Cardinal Bernadin if he was as you say then God would have dealt with him after death but during his life he reatined the Priestly ministry and this not by his own merit but by the authority of the church.

The worship of the devil... isn't that the definition of evil? are you able to call somebody who worships devil customary... easily... i think of no longer. The bible is a 2 thousand year old decision of books... the place you will locate references to very almost each thing there is. some human beings use the words to justify their ideals... individuals base their ideals on what's written... the two are particularly distinctive. some are challenged by using what they study individuals p.c.. out the bits that fit them and forget regarding something.

The entire genocidal Vatican is a murderous secret society.
Read this about the Jesuits, said by Abraham Lincoln:
"This war [i.e., the American Civil War of 1861-1865] would never have been possible without the sinister influence of the Jesuits. We owe it to popery that we now see our land reddened with the blood of her noblest sons. Though there were great differences of opinion between the South and the North on the question of slavery, neither Jeff Davis nor anyone of the leading men of the Confederacy would have dared to attack the North, had they not relied on the promises of the Jesuits, that, under the mask of Democracy, the money and the arms of the Roman Catholic, even the arms of France were at their disposal, if they would attack us. I pity the priests, the bishops and monks of Rome in the United States, when the people realize that they are, in great part, responsible for the tears and the blood shed in this war. I conceal what I know, on that subject, from the knowledge of the nation; for if the people knew the whole truth, this war would turn into a religious war, and it would at once, take a tenfold more savage and bloody character. It would become merciless as all religious wars are. It would become a war of extermination on both sides. The Protestants of both the North and the South would surely unite to exterminate the priests and the Jesuits, if they could hear what Professor Morse has said to me of the plots made in the very city of Rome to destroy this Republic, and if they could learn how the priests, the nuns, and the monks, which daily land on our shores, under the pretext of preaching their religion, instructing the people in their schools, taking care of the sick in the hospitals, are nothing else but the emissaries of the Pope, of Napoleon, and the other despots of Europe, to undermine our institutions, alienate the hearts of our people from our constitution, and our laws, destroy our schools, and prepare a reign of anarchy here as they have done in Ireland, in Mexico, in Spain, and wherever there are any people who want to be free."
-Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865; 16th President of the United States)

I've heard alot of conspiracy paranoia but this must take the cake!
All I know who knew Card Bernadin well testify to his love of the Christ and his devotion to Christ and when he was libeled he showed great love to his accuser.. The Card showed great faith and forbearance as he was dying.
Anyway, the state of soul of the celebrant of sacraments does not effect the validity of the sacraments( in opposition to the Donatist heresy).
Jesus is the One Priest of the sacraments of the Church and when there is public intent to do what Jesus the priest does through His Church and there are valid form and matter, the sacraments are real.

The validity of sacraments is not dependent on the state of the soul of the priest or bishop since it is the Holy Spirit who is actually at work in the sacraments. it is the Holy Spirit who gives grace to the person receiving the sacrament.
