You can if your sick or disabled, or if you still go to school and one of your parents is dead.

You can actually collect SSI at any age if you're determined handicapped in some way. My daughter has been receiving it since she was 3 years old, but the money comes under her father's name. He is the one that has paid into the Social Security system. How much you get is determined by how much you've paid into the Social Security system, and how much your income is. If your earnings are too high, or you have alot of savings (over 4,000), or assets, you will not be eligable.
the process takes some time. First you will have to make an appointment at your local office, and then they will send you to a series of doctor's to determine your disablity. Once the docs have made their reports and they are reviewed, you will receive an answer.

Contact the Social Security Administration to see if you qualify. However, if you are able to type on the computer, you can probably get a job.

You would have to call and make an appointment with your local Social Security Administrative office to find out if you would be eligible

If you meet the eligibility for SSI, then you can collect it at age 18. You'd only qualify if you are disabled. See http://ssa.gov/dibplan/dacpage.shtml
