I actually recycle a lot less than I did five years ago, because we buy a lot less of everything. Some things we used to recycle we no longer recycle at all such as magazines, telephone directories, junk mail, video tapes, children's toys/games etc etc. We have stopped all of these at source, such as registered with the mailing preference service, we don't buy magazines, videos etc. so we no longer have anything to recycle at all.

Recycling has changed a lot in the past five years. There are now loads of car boot sales where people sell on their unwanted items. Locally we can now recycle clothes, shoes, old spectacles, books, linen, timber etc etc, which were not available options before. Again though we buy less of everything so we have very little to recycle.

I've been recycling for a long time. Like Toby (above) I'm in the UK and it's only in recent years that domestic collections of recycleable materials has begun. Prior to that it was down to individuals to do their own recycling and take stuff to recycling centres. I've been doing this for about 20 years.

I think the only thing I recycle now that I didn't 5 years ago is old clothes. These go to recycling schemes and the money raised supports the local Air Ambulance service.

I only recycle those things that I am either forced by government to(they have no open market value) or those things that I can make a buck on(aluminium cans, copper) The difference between now and five years ago is, back then I still recycled things that brought in money, but found no reason to engage in feel good activities designed to control me

Everything we can! Five years ago we didn't really recycle anything except glass. Now we recycle plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, metals and fabrics.

I am a bit frustrated that not all of it is collected at the curbside, but it isn't all that difficult to take it to our local Tesco when we go shopping.

We recycle glass, plastic, paper, metals, paper cartons, and grey water, clothes, and furniture.
5 Years ago we didn't recycle anything which is a little embarressing.
I am hoping to recycle my garden and kitchen waste in the near future when we get a composter.

I recycle an awful lot more now that the local authorities do collections, however, the other day they did not take any of the clothing that I put out for collection which I found disappointing

Paper, bottles , cans, milk jugs, there was no outlet for them. Other things are electronic, household items , books, toys etc, anything that can be used by other people , Recycle North, takes things in and fixes the electronic things, TV's , comp. lamps , vaccumn's , stoves, Refrigerators etc, So, only the real garbage goes to the dump. At $2.00 a bag.

I actually recycle less after moving to Britain..I'm doing my best though.
Britain is so far behind when it comes to reusing and recycling..and the whole dropping litter in the streets culture I'm aware this is not always the case, but it certainly is in Glasgow.

Lots! I starred making my own compost so newspapers, tea bags, vegetables/Fruits peels, egg shells etc. It makes such a difference! My bij is not as full as it was.

I also recycle bottles of course, from plastic, glass and cans. Take them to our local recycling bank, along with used clothes too.
