Will it ruin it?

It won't extend its life or ruin it really...Once it is ripe you can refridgerate it for 2-3 days. They do freeze well though as long as you prep them first.

To freeze avocado, remove the skin and pit and purée the flesh with ½ tablespoon of lemon or lime juice per avocado. Pack in an airtight container and freeze for up to five months. Avocado slices and halves do not freeze well.

Hope I helped

I am eating an avocado that I have had in the fridge for 2 weeks, so it WILL extend its life. Its a tad soft but definitely not rotten. Nice and green on the inside still. Not all avocados you chose will last as long as my did, but if you keep it in the fridge it will extend its life. I guarantee if I left it on the counter, it would have been rotten by now.

It will keep it for a little longer although I think the texture changes a little bit in the fridge. Because the pit is still in there it keeps it good. Once opened the oxidization turns it brown so keep the pit on the half that you don't use.
