Its not worth it if all you plan to brew is one 5 gallon batch because you have to also purchase the basic equipment which is like another $100 on top of the ingredients.

A bunch because of the equipment. The ingredients don't cost much, but the bottle/jug, funnels, filters, etc. add up.

figure $60 up front
then $12 per 5 gallons or so, if you just buy the malt and yeast
