Bible-fundies ask the Catholics to show biblical proof concerning the Church's dogmas when it's very clear that Bible-fundies version of the Bible is clearly edited.

CJ, your lies will cause your soul death. I'm sorry to say that, but you have my utmost sympathy. you deliberately bask in ignorance, I doubt you are of God.

i'm sorry, i chuckled to myself after reading CJ's answer, completely oblivious that the people with the edited bible's are the bible fundies.

as for why, they're told something and it's repeated to the point where it's like the ace in the hole.

I have to quibble with you a little on your use of the word "edited." Even Catholics distinctively categorize the text we don't acknowledge, using the word "deuterocanonical" to describe it. It would be easiest to answer your question if we just accept as a given the fact that Protestants use the Hebrew Old Testament while Catholics use the Greek Old Testament.

Fundies believe that all doctrine must originate in the Bible itself, and many of them find it inconceivable that a Christian would think anything else.

This is what I'd call a "biblicist" position, and it is quite different from the Lutheran view that all doctrine must be confirmed by the Bible, despite the fact that both views have been labeled "sola scriptura."

Since Fundies believe that the Bible is always the starting point, they're not asking you to do anything that they wouldn't ask of each other. The whole Fundie way of life can be best illustrated in the stereotype of the crusty old Baptist who drops a gigantic Bible down on the table and says, "Show it to me in the Word!" They dwell on this constantly...and while their approach has its flaws, a reverence for the Bible is certainly nothing to fault them for.

Have you ever read the account of King Josiah found in the
Old Testament in 2nd Kings 22:1-13? They had been
without God's word and the high priest, Hilkiah, found a
copy, and it was read to King Josiah; 22:11, "And it came
to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book
of the law, THAT HE RENT HIS CLOTHES. And the king
commanded the high priest to "Go enquire of the Lord for
me, and for the people, and for all Judah, CONCERNING
THE WORDS OF THIS BOOK THAT IS FOUND":

This is the very same thing that happened to Martin Luther;
He found a bible and read it and learned how greatly the
"church" teachings were in complete conflict with the word
of God. You believe whatever they tell you is truth and you
accuse those who have "come out of her" of being the ones
lead around by the nose.

I think you do believe in God, so don't you believe that the
ONE who controls the very turning of the earth, had the
power to protect his words for his people to read? Mark
13:31, Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away:
BUT MY WORDS SHALL NOT PASS AWAY". He through
HIS POWER kept the word PURE for his people to read.

You believe that the church has interpreted God's word for
you, but Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 10:16, "To preach
the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast
IN ANOTHER MAN'S LINE OF THINGS made ready to
our hand". He preached the word and didn't use "another
man's" line of words put in his hands. He was taught
by the Holy Spirit and put no trust in man's teachings; Gal 1:11-12. This is how Peter was taught to know who Jesus
was, and what Christ has built His church upon; spiritual
revelation, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Catholics are the first formal Christian Church. In the beginning of the church the symbol was the fish. You can still see the fish symbol on many old churches. (you can also see the fish symbol around with feet - cute evolution thing).

The many, many Christian churches all begin with the Catholics. When did your Christian church begin and from which other Christian church did you evolve?

We didn't have the Bible. We had the Baltimore Catechism.

Though at Mass there were readings from scripture. But we didn't study the Bible the way other sects do. For all I know, Catholics may be studying the bible now. I have lost touch.

The Bible has survived the exact way the CREATOR wants it to. That's where faith comes into play. If not and the caths are right then why is there no reference to purgatory and clear scripture that Mary had sex?

They don't ask for or believe in anything that they haven't been taught from the pulpit.

It's like Pascal's Wager and the Watchmaker Argument. They learn it at church and repeat it ad nauseam without stopping to think about how illogical it is.

Agreed. Catholics are not saved, and not Christians. Asking a catholic to support true biblical doctrine is a waste of time, for they don't believe the Bible.
