for concealed carry, I prefer a small large calibur pistol in .45 acp ( I use the para ordinance "warthog" with night sites.

For hunting, with a handgun, I use a single action revolver chambered in .44 magnum. I have both scoped and iron site revolver that I use. Both have a 7 inch barrel to give me a longer site radius and more accuracy.

For home defense, my primary weapon is a 12 gauge shotgun with a 20" barrel, 8+1 rounds loaded with the first round up #7 birdshot, the next 2 up are #4 buckshot, the next 2 up are 00 buckshot and the last 3 up are slugs. I can stop anything with that combination.

As for my home defense handgun, it is the same compact .45acp that I carry for my concealed weapon.

Hard to make a mistake with a shotgun. I have known people that missed firing at a home invader in a hallway with a pistol. If it is strictly home defense by one already with a short barrel. It makes it a bit easier to move inside the house with. Plus if you need a longer barrel for hunting they are not that expensive. Load it with # 4 -# 6 shot . it throws a better pattern and it will clear a hall at 30 feet. As far as the wife goes bt a 20 ga semi -automatic that will hold 7 shots. or one of the new Berrettas extrema auto ( very light recoil in the 12 ga ). I don't think you will have to worry about missing but even if you do the muzzel report might just be enough to take the fight out of them and make them want to leave or quit the fight altogether.

concealed carry it depends on the revolver or semi auto.I would take most concealable revolvers over a concealable auto, with a few exceptions for the makarov,H&K p7,and a compact 1911.Home defense I would probably say semi auto because its much easier to pop a mag in as opposed to cylinder loading, though I would rather have a 12 gauge shotgun for home defense.Hunting is a no brainer.I can think of three semi autos powerful enough for most hunting.Auto mag (rare)Desert Eagle (Super expensive and unreliable) and the grizzly (ultra rare).

I like a revolver for all three.I'm just more comfortable with a revolver.I use a SW 357 for conceal,SW 44 or a Ruger Super Black hawk 44 for hunting and either a SW 357 or a 9m/m auto for home defense.

Well, I don't see how your'e going to hunt with a semi auto pistol (unless it's a desert eagle) so I'd go with a revolver in either .357 or .44 magnum. These would be good for deer around 50 or so yards. If I were to get one it would have a 6" barrel.

Flat slab semi-autos conceal better; Revolvers come in bigger calibers for hunting (usually); Home defense is best accomplished with whatever is closer (semi, revolver, shotgun or rifle).

Best.

I do not hunt, but I prefer a semi auto for home defense. Also I live in IL so I cannot carry at all, but if I could a sub-compact in .45acp is what I would carry.... I like the Springfield Armory XD series...
