I saw a thing on Court TV about a muslim father killing his teenage daughter with a knife while the mother held her down. Presumably she had "disobeyed" them by working an after school job & having a BF they didn't like. I am not usually one to bash any1's religion but that is SICK. I am so glad the father died from diabetes so his execution wouldn't be overturned like the mothers' was. She's just as resposible.

This still goes on. In some countries it is widespread. Police agencies in Europe have begun training their offices how to identify honor killing crimes and combat them.

Honor killing has very little to do Islam, and more to do with the culture of some of the people practicing Islam.

There are honour killings amongst Muslims and other religious groups even in the UK. Only about 2 weeks ago a 70-year old woman was jailed for life for her part in the honour killing of her daughter-in-law because she "brought shame" on the family by having an affair.

It is estimated that on average there are 12 honour killings every year in the UK and about 2,000 worldwide.

Mainly Muslim and Hindu, but I think that this is more of a cultural issue than a religious one.

Why were "Honor Killings" first commnded by GOD in the OLD TESTAMENT ?

“And the daughter of any priest/pastor, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.” --- Leviticus 21:9

A priest/pastor's daughter, if found to have lost her virginity without marriage, can receive the death penalty, but in the form of incineration.

“And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she [is] with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.” ---- Genesis 38:24

“Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.” --- (Deuteronomy 22:21)
