Symptoms can range anywhere from numbness and tingling in the fingers and/or hands to pain in the hands, fingers, and/or wrists. The number one way to tell if it's carpal tunnel or something else is to press the back of your hands together: elbows straight out, fingers pointing down, palms facing your elbows. If you feel a sharp pain in either wrist, you have carpal tunnel syndrome in that wrist. The best relief for carpal tunnel is RICE: rest (as much as possible), ice (15 minutes on, 15 minutes off), compression (wrap it or use a specially-made glove or splint), and elevation (keep it above the level of the heart). An anti-inflammatory (like ibuprofen) will also help.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain in the fingers or hand. Some people may have pain in their arm between their hand and their elbow.
Symptoms most often occur in the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and half of the ring finger. If you have problems with your other fingers but your little finger is fine, this may be a sign that you have carpal tunnel syndrome. A different nerve gives feeling to the little finger.
You may first notice symptoms at night. You may be able to get relief by shaking your hand.

It's Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and it occurs in your wrists from over using them, like Mechanics when they wrench alot, typist who continually use there hands and wrists to type. Repetive motion over and over tears down the muscles and tendons associated with your hand and wrist movement. It can be very, very painful and requires physical therapy if not taken care of quickly.
