According to Western religions, God is omnipotent. So why would he take time to create an entire universe just to populate earth, and then have all the inhabitants play in a big game where you have to guess which religion and sect to join, which rites to perform, make sure you interpet his teachings in the correct manner, and try to figure out how to behave well. Then, at the end of the earth, he would have to go through everyone's life, and figure out whether or not they deserve to go to heaven. It all seems like one big dumb game that an omniscient being (God) would be far too smart to play.

no game is "dumb" if you know how to play.

If you put it that way ..well it's one big dumb game. I prefer to think of God creating a unimaginable universe out of nothing. A creation that we have yet to understand. What inhabitants live and play in this universe I don't know. Maybe we are one of millions, or maybe we are alone. I prefer to say that existing is a wonderful gift, not a big dumb game. In all the void that was, before the universe began, what were the chances that you would be. That you would have a mind to question, to reason to have emotions. I don't think you have to guess which sect to join or rites to perform. I think you just have to live and appreciate the gift.

Dear friend, it must be hard on you to try to figure it all out. But if you end up puzzled, it's all in vain, isnt it? What if the truth were exactly what's in the Bible, which has taken more than a thousand years to write. What if Adam was an innocent, who was deceived by the Devil into "going his own way." (Does that sound familiar?) What if going your own way is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS the path to destruction, for you and everyone else. What if listening to God, obeying him and loving him, is the only thing that works. What if it's as simple as that. But what will other people THINK ???!!!

The writers of the Bible couldn't conceive of an omnipotent being so they drew up a old man in a toga and stamped God on his picture.

The point of believing in God isn't to get to heaven. Believing in God and acting according to his word is our way of bringing heaven here to earth.
We were born apart from God because of the original sin. The garden was heaven until we screwed it up.

The lord moves in mysterious ways, my son. Now sit down and don't ask awkward questions, or you will get sent to hell.
