my mother is very religous, believing in god,
i grew up believing, and prayd before i slept,
"by the grace of the lord gesus christ and the fellowship of the holy spirit, be with us all forever more amen"
that was my daily prayr.
but as ive grown older, im not so sure, i even sometimes cures religion.
The problem im having is i want to believe in god (and i do believe in gesus christ and i respect him) but im having doubts about believing in god. its hard for me to believe in what i want to believe in. you know what im saying.

Faith entails a great deal more than intellectual assent to certain truth claims. It is a way of life and way of being in relationship to that which is greater than yourself. Is the Bible infallible? Not in the literal sense. Is there somethnig out there that corresponds to what you or I mean when we say "God?" Definitely not. Does that mean we throw the whole thing out? Why would we?
Doesn't the experience and the community itself prove that this way of telling and living out the story of God and man contains some truths beyond the specific words? Does wanting to retain those things mean that it's all just emotional drivel?
John B above would have you be ENTIRELY rational. Man is not an entirely rational animal, making yourself act entirely rational would be like voluntary autism. Don't do it. It's okay to go based on intuition and feelings sometimes, you know? Those have value too, it's not all logical and you can't expect it to be - logic is man made, as is all language. Love and faith are in many ways illogical. If you decide to give up the latter you'll be giving up the former - unless you want to be selectively illogical, in which case you don't really want to believe after all.

It is common for any human to doubt what we can't see, hear, smell, taste or feel. But that doesn't make it right to say it doesn't exist because I cant find it.
Think about it, if you need a confirmed answer you want the source to be accurate and the only person who can give you accurate answer is Jesus himself. The reason being He is the only sinless person that we ever know who has walked on this earth. And He says that understanding the concept of God and heaven is not possible for humans. It is beyond our knowledge.
Yet He gives a easier way for us, Just to have faith in Him and follow like a sheep. The more we follow the better our chances of letting the spirit work in our hearts and the spirit will guide us in the path Jesus talk about that leads to salvation.
We have a life that lasts few years, It is a test to qualify for eternal life, why fail it by just sitting idle and not even bothering to take the exam?
God bless you.

Modern biblical scholarship makes a very compelling case for the idea that Jesus never existed... that he was, in fact, entirely fictional. Richard Carrier's review of 'The Jesus Puzzle' is probably the best place to start, if you're really interested in investigating this...

I think the more important questions you should be asking yourself is why you want to or need to believe in God?
What is so great about the belief in magical being?

We don't choose our beliefs... they are a result of our experiences and knowledge.
If you want to improve your faith, get more involved in church.
If you want to solidify your disbelief, pick up some books about history, science, religion, and philosophy.

You're on the right track. Quit trying to hang on to your beliefs and let your mind run the way it's designed to. Logic and reason work.

I hear you. Perhaps praying and a life style change might help. If you draw away from God, he will draw away from you.
