It's most likely gingivitis or periodontitis. She should see a dentist as soon as possible and have her teeth deep cleaned. Symptoms of periodontal disease are gums are red, swollen, it is usually not painful to the touch, it bleeds easily when brushing or flossing and it smells because of the bacteria that is stuck between the gums and the teeth. If she doesn't take care of this it will get worse and she might loose her teeth. In the meantime brush regularly and floss, floss, floss.

eeew!! hahah mouth wash should do the trick. However advice her to see the dentist for dental cleanind it makes a difference, she may also need to be checked out for gingivitis! bleeding gums need to be checked out As they increase someones chance of getting other serious viral infections through kissing etc.

Stop smoking all together. Use floss and Listerine. If that doesn't work after two weeks go to the dentist before you lose everything in your mouth.

Your mouth is like an open wound: bacteria gets into it, makes it rotten... Which explains bad breath. Tell her to not brush so hard, and get a new toothbrush with extra-soft bristles.
